For the record, there absolutely IS such a thing as a pre-nomination, and it's basically a note we make for ourselves as to who or what stood out to us over the course of the year as worthy of being considered when we start hammering out the actual nominations. Anything that has received a rating of AAAA or higher has been pre-nommed for something. Just look up the review of any such title on avn.com, and you will see the word "pre-nom" somewhere.

OK, yes, there are, as with everything, exceptions to the rule; some AAAA reviews slip through minus a pre-nom and some lower-than-AAAA reviews score one or two. But for me – and I speak for no other reviewer at AVN - I consistently stick to the philosophy that if I've found something, whatever it may be, about a title worthy of award consideration, that puts it in the AAAA or higher class.
