^ This isn't money that's coming from the government though. It's money from oil revenue that the state constitution requires to be put into a fund rather than letting the legislature spend it all. And a portion of the interest is given to the people of the state every year. It was a great idea and it's worked out well for the people of Alaska. Although you could argue that the additional cost of living up here negates the benefit of the payout.
