^--are we forgetting about "misdemeanors" here? Is that a specific use of the term "misdemeanor?" As in "less than a felony but worse that a parking violation." Or do we need to go back to perhaps Justice Marshall to figure out the framers' intent of that word? Or Would my Black's Law Dictionary suffice?
Somewhere, Alexis de Tocqueville is rolling over in his coffin.
Black's Law Dictionary is fine, and misdemeanor means exactly that. But with so many felonies to chose from, why not start at the top?
