Is it simply because of a bruised pretty face or is it because she is tearless and stoic in the face of violence enacted upon her, resigned like Joan of Arc? For myself I immediately assumed she is a "battered woman" ie by a man and I reacted instinctively and I'm not proud. But she could just as easily be coming down off if a throw-down with another bitch.
