Different style. Lucha is more acrobatic. The Japs do what's called a strong style. Very snug holds, punches not pulled as much. A more traditional, realistic looking style. That's why a lot of the bigger (size wise) American guys are popular there. Not to say there are no flyers, but less emphasis on acrobatics than in lucha.
