You need to read the FAQ on this. I once got the settings wrong and wound up deleting all my remembered passwords and browser history. But yeah, it is teh shite.

If your problems are really bad, you can also try ComboFix. It is a rather advanced program to remove malware and other shit that slips in under your AV. The adage that your PC is now basically fuck-up-proof--not with this program.
