I think that's an important point here. The amount of advertising and promotion available to Tera and Jenna will not be equaled in these days of porn's budgets. You don't see big posters and display pieces of porn chicks anymore, do you? (@Fartz)
I also think that's a valid point about performance. Those girls were marketable because of their model looks on box covers and display items. I don't think they were launched into stardom because of their on-screen tactics as much as their photogenecy.(is that a word)

No not at all. Nobody gives a fuck about names anymore as far as I can see. People are more interested in price-point. It's not 2006 anymore where guys are willing to shell out fifty bucks for a two and a half hour DVD because it has one of "their girls" in it. These days, it's price first, quality second.

Jenna was a fucking fluke anyway. She would have been a run-of-the-mill blonde if it wasn't for Howard Stern. He's the guy that shoved her down the throats of a much broader, nationally driven audience. The timing was just right, as well. It was the mid nineties and porn was shifting into something more hardcore and market ready. She was extremely "right place, right time" so to speak. She couldn't act. She had a body that was no better or worse than the current flavors and she wasn't very hardcore either. She owes every single cent she earned to Howard and Orenstein to a degree.
