Then you will have 30 million independent and moderate voters voting for the Democratic candidate. Demographically the religious right is shrinking with every election while the Hispanic block is increasing. Meanwhile the GOP does everything they can to pander to the shrinking block and piss off the growing one. Until they reverse this they are going to lose every election no matter who runs for them. It's not as much of a loss to have 30 million people who normally vote for you stay at home as it is to have 30 million people who would normally vote for you vote for the other guy instead.



As for 2016 the Republican party leadership will have Mt. Rushmore sized rocks in their head if the ticket is anything besides Christie/Rubio. I haven't the faintest clue who the Democrats will run. If Obamacare ends up being the fuck up it should be it won't matter.



I think you suffer from Jerky's disease and think if a candidate is appealing to the evangelical group that automatically makes him unappealing to the others. There are ways to bridge the gap. Go ahead and put Christie up, but it's been two moderate establishment republicans running with two more conservative VP picks and two losses so far.
