Your comparison is completly bogus. The parallel here is of course YouTube, not Napster. How has shutting down YouTube worked out? You can find practically every popular and plenty of obscure songs on YouTube (and of course tons of TV and other copyrighted material). Yet Google is still in business, using its advertising revenue to buy other companies (like Motorola for $12B).

Indeed Google is the Internet's main index to pirated porn as well. Good luck taking it down. And did taking down Napster solve anything for the music industry? The music simply moved to Google's YouTube and BitTorrent.



You make some good points about youtube, but there are a couple of differences. First youtube doesnt specialize in any one niche area. They have a wide variety of videos, the tube sites are all porn. Second Im not saying that piracty can be eradicated. All im saying is that is amazing to me, the sheer lack of effort into at least trying at all. There has been resistance, but it hasnt been well organized.
