I'm having trouble with this "belonging to the government" thing. I doubt what they were saying was we're owned by the gov. I think they were using "government" as a replacement word for "community". I consider the government to be a part of my community, but it certainly isn't in and of itself the community. This is one of the fundamental differences between the two sides. In my mind , the government should be a help to the community, not the other way around. Which is exactly the Liberal/ Dem thinking. They need us to fork over more and more to return it to us in "services". After they've taken their cut, of course.
