I've never liked this one. The whole "makes an ass out of u and me" thing.

Realistically, you couldn't make it through a day without making constant assumptions.
You have to "assume" things like most people on the road will drive like responsible adults, and so on. You'd be stymied if you had to rely on nothing but absolute certainty all the time.
