Actually the BBC said she hugged the queen, not the other way around.

But, I haven't seen any negative reaction in the British press, and the Queen clearly didn't mind a bit and returned the hug. So whatever the case may be it's clearly isn't a gaffe.

Obama shipping the Churchill bust back was a much bigger fiasco, and the DVDs as a gift was nearly as bad. The iPod was a mistake but not as bad, and that was by lower level staffers, not Obama himself.

Hopefully they'll learn before that kind of thing happens with someone really thin-skinned like the Russians.
