The quote from Obama is a common expression:"you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig." You've haven't heard that saying until a few days ago?? Is that what your saying???
It's a shame your on the losing side of history.
If he meant it that way he should have gone with the original version. "You can't polish a turd." If he never considered the possibility that people would associate the phrase lipstick on a pig with the Republican V.P. candidate he's not smart enough to be president. That is more like something Bush would have done while making a speech about the German chancellor.
