Are you talking about the political double-speak definition or the real-world definition?

Because if you do not think we are in a state of war (no matter what politically correct words are used on the top of the official form) then you need to sit down and have a long discussion with one of our returning solders.

When tens upon tens of thousands of soldiers and billions upon billions of dollars in military equipment invade another sovereign country killing thousands of people in the process, with the sole purpose of subjugating or replacing the existing power structure (regardless of the political reasons for it) I'm at a loss to find another word that accurately and realistically describes it other than "War".

War is the failure of the political process, the cost of which is human lives.
