Referring to a group as "nonprofit" because you claim not to personally profit when it is not a registered Nonprofit is one of the oldest scams in the book. She could be making huge money by actively fundraising (sending out mailers, speaking to church groups etc). The point of Nonprofits is transparent finances. Anyone who gave her money expecting a tax deduction can claim fraud. She could go down hard for this.
