i never understood that movie... i was much more fond of ben stiller's character, since he was nice and thoughtful and had ambition and a good job. but it turns out you're supposed to be rooting for ethan hawke's slacker with the attitude, B.O. and bad goatee. this movie kind of helped shape me into a republican.
