And God bless 'em for that...While, in my experience, this seems to be a scandalous view in the U.S., I firmly believe that private citizens have no valid reason to own a gun. Most people, at least in my social circle (university educated young professionals) hold the same view around here.

Hence, it is not that our legislators or judiciary are disarming us. It is rather that we would like to see all our fellow citizens disarmed. Our legislators and judiciary are merely acting on the will of the people. For further support of the argument, compare U.S. and Canadian murder rates.

Just sayin'...though I certainly understand the historical roots of American obsession with freedom to own firearms.
