Woman accused of faking breast cancer for implants

WACO, Texas—Authorities say a Texas woman lied about having breast cancer and spent $10,000 raised at a benefit to have her breasts enlarged. McLennan County sheriff's investigator James Pack says in court records that 24-year-old Trista Joy Lathern shaved her head to look like a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy.
Pack says Lathern wanted breast implants to try to save her seven-month marriage.
The Waco Tribune-Herald reports that Lathern is charged with theft by deception. Sheriff's officials and Lathern's attorney didn't immediately return phone calls from The Associated Press.

Teen "Skank Agent" In Craigslist Bust

DECEMBER 1-- A Wisconsin teenager who described herself as a "skank agent" is facing felony charges for allegedly using Craigslist to rob prospective johns looking for sex. According to a Circuit Court complaint filed yesterday, Samantha Stubbe, 17, last month placed an ad in the online classified site's "Adult Gigs" section offering sexual favors in return for an apartment. After men were lured to a Fond du Lac motel for a purported liaison, Stubbe's male friends attacked them and stole their money. Stubbe, pictured below in the mug shot at right, was aided in the scheme by Stevi Smet, 18, who served as the female decoy outside the motel. Smet is pictured below at left. When questioned by police, Stubbe admitted orchestrating the strong-arm robbery scheme, but told Detective Steve Kaufman that "she would not consider herself a pimp but a 'skank agent,' meaning that she was an agent with skanky friends." Since state criminal codes do not address skank agentry, Stubbe was charged with soliciting prostitution and armed robbery. Smet, also charged with armed robbery, is facing a prostitution rap for allegedly having sex with a man who answered the Craigslist ad. The man, 19, told cops that he paid for Smet's services with a $175 check.

Connecticut Karaoke Assault

Cops: Six females attacked singer for lousy sports bar performance
SEPTEMBER 24--Six women were arrested last night after they allegedly assaulted a female karaoke singer whose performance they panned. The attack occurred at a bar in Stamford, Connecticut, where Leidy Alcantara, 25, had performed a song by Juanes, the chart-topping Colombian singer. According to a police press release, the six arrestees made "derogatory comments about the other female's singing ability (or lack thereof) and then repeatedly punched, kicked and pulled the hair of the victim before leaving the bar." Alcantara, who suffered a chipped tooth and was left with numerous bruises, was treated at a local hospital. Her alleged assailants, pictured in the below mug shots, were nabbed after witnesses followed the women and pointed them out to police. The women--four are 19, two are 20--were charged with assault, conspiracy to commit assault, and breach of peace. Each alleged attacker was released after posting $500 bond, and are scheduled for a court appearance on October 5. Last night's karaoke attack was the third in the past couple of years. A Seattle man was throttled in August 2007 after performing a Coldplay song, while a Wisconsin man was attacked last November following his interpretation of a Ronnie James Dio song.
