BDM it's certainly not the album where he does the most shredding but it is very good. He has a very ballsy choice of material (Over the Rainbow, old R&B songs, pieces from operas) but he pulls them off. It's a lot closer to Blow by Blow than it is his last few albums. It doesn't hurt that he features Joss Stone on a couple of songs.

I'm a little sad that Tal is not with him on his current tour though. IMO she is the best bassist he has ever had (regular touring bassist that is I'm not counting his wild hair up the ass projects with Stanley Clarke).

I think Jeff is one of those guys who likes the challenge of trying to piece together a whole bunch of new parts and make them work. Then once he figures out how to play with them he gets bored and looks for something new again. It explains why he spends so much of his free time rebuilding hot rods instead of racing them.
