The Arms of God" by Corrosion of Conformity.

Super underrated and criminally underexposed release from a band that pisses all over anything Metallica has put out since 1991.

that is the record that inspired me to trade in my small kit and get the biggest drums i could find. fucking love that record. it is in my top five all time metal albums. stanton moore's drumwork on that is nothing short of inspiring.

oh and it's not hard to make what metallica did in the 90's look like shit. i offer the black album as proof of criminal mediocrity.

You can't go wrong with COC. Even though they change styles with almost every album, you kow your getting good songwriting and musicianship.

The black album was the last good album Metallica put out. Granted, its not as good as the first 4, but still better than anything they put out since. "Wherever I May Roam" is one of my favorite songs from Metallica.

yeah a lot of people loved that record. but i grew up a bay area thrash kid and that record was pretty much a betrayal of the ideals they helped to establish. but fuck it, a man's gotta be able to million dollar paintings you know.
