I listened to 'Nighthawks at the Diner' by Tom Waits. I borrowed it from the library. It is terrific and makes me want to drink. It is recorded live and Waits is in a sort of comedian lounge singer mode what tells stories. There is one called 'Eggs & Sausages' about eating in diners in LA after the bars close I suppose that is really something I enjoyed. The chorus goes like:
Eggs and sausage,
With a side of toast,
Coffe & roll,
Hashbrowns over easy,
Chili in a bowl, With burgers & fries,
All kinds of pies,
Ala mode if you will,
I came in to join this crowd,
I've got time to kill.
