When we lived in New Mexico, my wife's first job was a LPN at a nursing home @ $8 an hour (about 8 years ago). MA's didn't exist in that part of the state, and those duties that you mentioned were performed by CNAs who were paid minimum wage without any benefits. Matter of a fact, only the RNs (two maximum) and management pukes received benefits.

cna's got about 10-12 an hour.
And being a MA and having cna training I often had to do all that shit because county nursing homes are way under staffed. Your job must have given u a shit deal hehe. My dental was a $1 a month and health was $3 a month and union So everyday was christmas. LPN's and RN's Got paid massively more than 8$ an hr hehe But different states and whether its county or private makes a big diff =)

Well, NM was like a pseudo Right to Work state. Unions are generally relegated to the large cities - Albuquerque and Santa Fey. My homestate, TX, is a Right to Work and very anti-Union. My wife currently makes a little over $12 an hour with shitty medical working for a clinic. When she worked for a hospital, she made $2 more an hour and had great benefits at minimal costs, but the overtime killed her. I believe RNs in this area start off around $16 an hour. IMO, wages are usually relative. Cost of living isn't too high here, but compared to NM, it's expensive. IMHO, most of NM is like a Third World Country.
