The results reflected indifference, with almost three in four students saying they took the First Amendment for granted or didn't know how they felt about it. It was also clear that many students do not understand what is protected by the bedrock of the Bill of Rights.

Three in four students said flag burning is illegal. It's not. About half the students said the government can restrict any indecent material on the Internet. It can't.

they must not have surveyed my government students....The Bill of Rights and the principles of American Goverment is pretty much what I hammer for 7 of the 9 weeks.

They'll discover the point of it all if you tell them they'll have to start wearing British school uniforms, complete with mandatory hair styles, etc...

Who says what high schoolers say means anything? They have no idea at all except for what they overhear at home between their parents (which they will reflexively oppose) and the bs they hear at school which they will take for the gospel. They are too young to vote. Fucking ignore them, let them muddle through trade school or college and all the left wing shit they will catch from their professors, and survey them again in ten years when they finally start paying taxes.
