Despite what your regime tells you, I'll give you the skinny on Canada. Most Canadians love America. We're sorta the little sister and America is the older brother. We bicker and shit about who took each others CDs or timber, but deep down, we're down with each other in a way that other countries don't get.
The rally in Ottawa after 9/11 was much larger than in any other country and the fact that thousands of Canadians travelled into New York to help the victims speaks volumes.
But we see, as does the most of the world, that what is going on in the US is totally and completely wrong. Good boys and girls are dying for oil and anyone who doubts this reality has their fucking head so far up their ass its scary. I despise what Bush has made of the greatest country on Earth. Your economy sucks, your wars are for false reasons and in the end lots of people are dying for something that is just plain wrong.
I would never belittle your soldiers (dead or alive) -- I have far too much respect for them to ever do that.

I would love to know the breakdown of Military votes for full time enlisted men in the Military- it would be very interesting if the majority of them voted for Bush- after all these are the men fighting for the usa in "his" war and yet they support him- it should tell people something.

The fundamental problem the Democrats have to solve in the next three years is the disconnect between the kind of candidate who has a chance to win the nomination and the kind of candidate who can win the election.
To win the primaries and the nomination you have to win amongst fundraisers and party activists, not the general electorate. The Republican activists are close enough to the general electorate that candidates that can win the election can also win nominations, and Republicans raise funds from amongst their activists, not a small group of big donors.
But this is not so for the Democrats. They rely heavily on large donors for startup campaign funding, and their party activists tend to be much too liberal - they don't resemble the electorate - and far too single-issue oriented, unable to make any sacrifice on gay marriages, guns, etc, to actually win an election.
Paradoxically what I think would help Democrats the most are real and strict campaign finance laws, shutting out big donors even at the start of the primary process. This would hurt the Democrats at first because they are so depend on a few large donors. But by forcing them to appeal to a broad group of potential voters right from the start in order to raise money I think they'll get moderate and electable candidates. They'd still have the problem of leftist activists, but they'd be at least competitive (and I suspect Democratic activists would tolerate a lot more moderate a candidate than most believe, in order to win an election in their lifetimes).
(most people think of Republicans as having fat-cat donors but has not been true for a long time - in 2000 DNC didn't even bother soliciting individual contributes, operating solely off fat-cats! RNC has operated off of grass-roots fundraising for years)

another problem with Democrats is they don't seem to be able to get their message out effectively enough..They beat around the bush...case in point...as I was preparing for my government class I need to update my overheads on Democrats and Republicans as the platform changes every four years after the convention...I went to the respective websites and downloaded both platforms...
The Democratic platform reads like a college thesis paper...they gripe and complain about what Bush is doing or did for 2 pages before they spend 1-2 paragraphs explaining what they will do, believe, or support..
Republican's on the other hand....only talks about what they believe, will support, and do...no time is spent criticizing anyone or idea...
Not that many people read the platform..but if Democrats can't even explain clearly what they stand for to a high school government teacher who actively sought out the information...how are they communicating it to the general population who rely on their news from the local station in 30 minutes segments? There is going to come a point when the Democratic leadership will need to articulate what they stand for without critizing others...
Do we learn as kids...you don't have to put someone down to elevate yourself....it always backfires...
