Is it safe to assume that all new releases from major studios are high-def? And if so, when did the changeover occur? Often, when browsing online retailers, I see an older title that catches my interest, but I pass on purchasing because I assume it's not high-def. Even with my HD DVR and Smart TV, older DVDs don't have the clarity of picture I prefer. I'd welcome hearing from anyone who can summarize what's happening in the world of porn and high-def. Blu-ray players came out in mid 2006, and the PlayStation 3 came out in November 2006. I'd guess that porn would have started releasing on HD DVD and Blu-ray that year, and probably ramped up in 2007. So use 2007 as the cutting off point to gauge the likelihood of the content being HD.
