I would rather snort barbed wire than cook with electric. Hell, I would rather drive from Vancouver to Brighton Beach with Brandon, Panzer, and Pipe Dream than cook with electric.

My electric oven is only used for pizza & bread. Anything else goes on my ceramic charcoal grill/smoker or it's something that can be cooked in a pan on the gas range.

My gas oven fucking blows. There's no warm/simmer setting. It's high, medium, or nothing. The pilots up top and down below constantly go out, and the metal grill thingies are uneven and bent in a way that makes my pans and skillets wobble when I sautee shit.

Let me correct that. There's a low/simmer setting, but the flame just sort of sputters around and goes out.

I never cooked with gas. I'm bugged out by that potential silent killer. Even a propane grill makes me leery.

I have a now old Jennaire that was cutting edge when I built this house in around '94. It's a gas cooktop with an electric oven and is the best of all worlds. I got the griddle and the grill tops for it and I'd rather cook in a pot on gas any day.

I had a gas range and oven in my former residence and the oven was hard to work with. There is a lot of moisture in natural gas and propane, so the oven tended to make baking difficult. The humidity in the oven affected the way breads rose and made it hard to get a crispy crust on pizzas and casseroles. It works pretty well for cooking meats, though, as it doesn't dry the meat out.

I know what you mean. I treat my gas grill with the respect I would a gun.

Jenn-air still makes the gas top/electric oven combo. That's what we've got in this house. The oven is also convection which is awesome once figure out the quirks of it.

Electric range tops are shit, and only a foodie douche would think otherwise.

In our old house, we had a Vulcan 6 burner commercial gas range with a raised griddle and broiler. Each burner put out 28K BTU. Find an electric range top that can bring 6 or 7 gallons of water to a boil period, and I'll stop calling them shit.

You've got to be a moron to injure yourself with a gas stove. I have never heard of a gas stove with a leaking valve. Most of the newer ones have an electronic ignition like a gas grill and have done away with pilot lights. And if you need to start it with a match, always remember to turn on the gas last.

The reason most houses are built with electric ranges is because they're cheap. Go price out some builders grade appliances, not the high end shit and you can see for yourself. And in the areas that have natural gas utility service, I'd bet that most people have gas appliances.

No natural gas around me, not enough people to make it worth putting the pipes in. I know people w/ propane, but then you have the huge tank taking up space in the yard.

Maybe there is some type of leak in the Foster's pipes somewhere. And an open flame or regular sparks. Roasted African American. The odour should be substantial.

Propane smells like popcorn farts.
