If you are in a hospital you can choose how much of your information the hospital is allowed to release. There are however, certain issues that cannot be released at any time. I think that the biggest question in all this is AIM's refusal to release the necessary information to California Public Health officials, which I believe, in HIV/AIDS cases is required.

Here is what I recall from reading about this the last time it occurred. When a performer is quarantined, AIM removes that individual's information from its database so their current test results cannot be checked or verified. Assuming that accepted procedures are followed, that prevents the performer from working.
What caused such a stir in 2009 was that the director (reportedly Tom Moore) allowed a female performer to work without having a current test. She had just been tested but the test results had been delayed for a second lab analysis because of a positive finding. Luckily she didn't infect anyone else she worked with on that occasion. She had worked very infrequently and so it was generally accepted that she became infected by contact outside the porn industry.
Judging from Tom Moore's background. I have a hunch that whatever he was filming involved at least some male-male bisexual/homosexual activity. He probably chose her for the scene because he knew that she was comfortable with it and it may well have been part of her private lifestyle.

Here's what I don't get. Cali is such a nanny state, I don't see how Cal- OSHA isn't all over the industry. And that they can just refuse to give County Health results. I would think there would be jail involved for refusing.

There hasn't been a refusal. AIM said it would turn over the info to the LA County Health Dept. by Saturday, Oct. 16. That was the legal deadline, 7 days after discovery of the patient's HIV+ test.

The real threat comes from the actions and behaviors of people OFF CAMERA. For better or worse, the people who enter our business usually do so because they are completely broke, drug addicts looking to make big money to score drugs, or people that washed out of mainstream society. These people are the polar opposite of the males and females who have forged a career for themselves in this business and want that career to last as long as possible.
I am part of the second group. I have been doing this since 2003 now, and I will continue doing this as long as I possibly can. I love this business, even though it is very stressful and lonely at times. I have forged a pretty decent career in front of the camera, and now I am trying to forge a decent career behind the camera as well. I would never put that career or my years of hard work in jeopardy. My time off camera is spent working out, playing warcraft, and sitting in front of my computer. I don't drink. I have never touched a drug in my life. I don't go out clubbing. I have sex off camera maybe 2 times a week with other tested female performers.
I definitely do not want to get sick, get HIV, hell get anything. It makes no sense. I worked my butt off to get to where I am in this business, so now I am going to do something risky and throw it all away AND get an incurable life-changing disease as well? Who believes that? Do I perform in scenes that are higher risk than normal Boy Girl scenes? Technically, I will say yes because a TS girl is still not a different gender. But again, there are usually condoms involved, and all TS girls are AIM tested just like me. Also, I have never done an anal creampie scene with a girl or TS girl ever (or at least that I can remember). TS scenes constitute 1 scene every other month at most for me. I take all the precautions I can. But once again, the problems this business has are the behaviors of people OFF camera and not ON camera. I will never see myself as one of the riskiest people in this business. I take too many precautions and follow every general rule that I can.

You are pathological liar, you are a risky performer, and for you to deny that is insulting to the people who you work with in the biz. The problem with Christian's last post isn't that he is somehow risky (arguing that he is for stuff he did years ago -- when he has obviously tested negative multiple times since then), but that "category 2 -- porn lifers" is somehow safer than "category 1" new arrivals. The fact is the last three previous "Patient Zeros" were Marc Wallice, John Stagliano and Darren James were all firmly in "category 2" -- they were porn lifers (in fairness I should add that Stagliano didn't infect anyone, but the other two certainly did). So this cat 1/cat 2 stuff boils down to simple protectionism by established performers against newcomers there to compete for work. The only thing that can protect the industry is testing, testing and more testing (and they should test for hepatitis as well -- AFAIK hep B/C aren't curable and certainly can kill you). To the extent that gay porn/straight porn crossover is a problem has to do with lack of testing on the gay side -- if HIV- status was a requirement to work in gay porn with rigorous testing to back it up, it wouldn't be such a big issue. Right now unfortunately it is, and no one actively doing untested shoots should be allowed in the straight industry. That said the straight porn industry is in fact extremely safe -- if you compare known HIV rates for porn mopes/sluts vs. the general population, porn performers are far less likely to become infected: Quote:
