Word on the street has it that Chris at Anabolic is making preparations to sue Platinum X Pictures over their use of Anabolic's trademarked logo in a recent Platinum X release. It seems that one of the performers wore an Anabolic logo emblazened shirt in one of the scenes. The rumor is that Anabolic could seek damages in excess of half a million dollars. If it means that one of the owners of Platinum X Weasel Grandpa Steve Holmes will be appearing in fewer scenes--well I hope they lose big time. In fact I think in such a clear violation Anabolic should receive three times the award.

I personally hope this entire situation can be resolved amicably and reasonably. I fully support all the directors at Platinum X and I see the company as the model for future porn companies.
Steve is one of the coolest motherfuckers in the biz. He's on the edge as well as Manuel, Brandon, and Looch.

I figured that this would be all that is needed. I would think if Anabolic sued you they would waste money. I can't see any damages. However, they still had to send a cease & desist letter to protect their trademark. If they had a future case where someone used their logo illegally, they could be made to show that they make all attempts to enforce their trademarks in order to win. Quote:

I had a very good relationship with most people at Anabolic and shot quite a few scenes for them. But after this incident I decided not to work for them any more.

That's a pretty angry post. First, I love the fact that we can all spout off like that, and I love the fact that I can reply! Long live XXXPornTalk!! Anyway, getting back to your post, how is Dion ripping-off anybody? He simply looked at a good product and concept, made it his way, and arguably made it better via simultaneous release, talent, DVD features, etc. Due to Red Light, the porn bar has been raised this last year. DVSX, Zero Tolerance, XXXMayhem and Sineplex are the newest companies to launch since Red Light. Look at how good all the new porn is. Porn for a consumer has never been better. Why? Because competition is at its highest in the industry and quality will rein supreme.
Prior to Dions entry, we had Anabolic, Evil and JM among others introducing new and improved whack material. While all of these companies are still strong - and in some cases even stronger - new competition and more choices makes things even better for wankers.
Is a new and improved VCR or DVD player a rip-off? I know that's a general way of looking at things, but really, all we're talking about is people fucking on camera! 'Ideas' in this medium are miracles quite frankly. Improvement in the medium on the other hand, is achievable and happening now.
Furthermore, I'm not even a big Red Light fan as I prefer Filmco and Sunshine Video. But I do know what sells and why.

It has everything to do with it . If RLD had not stolen the Anabolic boxcover look im sure Chris would be much more forgiving . Red Light boxes look identical to Anabolic's right down to the fonts , so put that in your pipe and smoke it , cunt !

When the real Dinand sees what you have posted under his name he will be very angry. How Steve Holmes can even be in the same city as Manuel and Pumper--let alone share a scene with them--is something I cannot understand. As to Manuel he is not a Rocco "wannabe" he is a Rocco "is". In my opinion he is the best out there now--bar none. Must watch his weight though.
Steve Holmes would be acceptable if he could reverse the clock 20 years (down to about 32), spent 6 months full time at the gym and after all that got a body and face transplant. CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Christopher Alexander, owner of Anabolic Video Productions, told AVN.com Tuesday the Cease and Desist Demand that was sent to Platinum X Pictures is part of his company's commitment to guarding its best interests.
Anabolic's attorney sent the correspondence to Platinum X last week regarding Platinum X's Euro Girls Never Say No, Vol. 1, where Jean Ives Lecastel is wearing an Anabolic T-shirt during parts of a sex scene.
In the letter, Anabolic ordered Platinum X to immediately cease distributing the title and also to recall the units that already have been sold because of the alleged trademark violation.
"Anabolic and Diabolic have been and will continue to make every effort to protect our trademark and copyright," Alexander said. "We're going after pirates worldwide. The industry needs people to protect their trademark and copyright. We've allocated a very sizeable budget for that pursuit.
"This isn't us picking on Platinum, if you will. If it was anybody else — VCA, Vivid or another company that's not as well known — they would have gotten the same letter."
Platinum X maintains the appearance of the Anabolic T-shirt was unintentional and the shirt is part of the "public domain."
"It was not pre-meditated," Bonnie Kail, director of sales of Platinum X, said Monday.
Steve Holmes and Manuel Ferrara own the title, which was shot in Europe and released on May 20. Kail said Platinum X was no longer shipping the video and was taking steps to re-edit it, removing the portion of the scene where the Anabolic shirt is visible.

The Redlight boxes do look just like Anabolics .I dont understand why Redlight didnt just come up with a fresh design ?Seems like it would be better to have your own look so you can stand out from the crowd .

I just found this article on avn.com Similar Name Confuses Customers of East Coast Production Company By: Wayne Hentai 08-06-2003 JENKINTOWN, Pa. - Despite setbacks stemming from the confusion of a like-named company, Platinum Pictures says they're on the road to recovery. Platinum Pictures President Miss Robyn La'Moure says she knew trouble was coming when she heard of Platinum X. Though La'Moure also says Platinum Pictures had registered its name as a trademark in 2001, distributors confused Platinum Pictures' releases with Platinum X's titles when they debuted in March. "That was the first of many [mishaps]... We stopped getting orders," she adds. But Platinum Pictures' problems didn't end there. The confusion trickled down to retailers, despite corrections made by the distributors. "Stores stopped calling and we were getting email from customers saying stores weren't carrying our stuff. The stores' responses were that we already ordered your stuff... or we don't do double orders from the same company," she says. "I think we lost some accounts." Though Platinum Pictures was the older company, Platinum X was the better-known of the two. The confusion and subsequent decline in sales lead to the cancellation of four of Platinum Pictures' productions. La'Mour also estimates that "several thousands of dollars" were lost in sales. Though Platinum Pictures' lawyers wanted to contact Platinum X, La'Moure felt that the best course of action to take was to personally write an email. With the possibility of a crackdown on the adult industry from Washington, La'Moure says infighting between companies would do more harm than good. A spokesman for Platinum X told AVN.com the company had done research to ensure that there were no like-named companies and that so far as he knew, the email had not been received by the company.' La'Moure says that since then, the company's regained some accounts and has received some reorders for their product. The Platinum Pictures also has assumed distribution of all its titles.
