Pardon my ignorance. I've been busy with a lot more pressing shit. Is this a re-make of the '80s series on NBC? 'Cause if it is, I always felt the original was, in many ways, a dig at Reagan. The more things change...

Yes it is a re-make of the '80s series. The first four episodes will air this month. Then the show will go away and come back in March after the Olympics are over. Which is odd and bad advertising.

Well I caught the premier and it looked like they took a two hour series opener and edited it down to an hour. There must have been some objectionable stuff about Obama so he told ABC to cut it out.

You're right Dara, apparently it is going on hiatus "in order to get scripts in shape". They also lost their original showrunner (creator or writer of the pilot) too. The plot thickens.

It's certainly possible that the show is already on hiatus and hemorraghing senior staff because of a secret government program to stop criticism of your president.
That notwithstanding, isn't it MORE likely that it's just a shitty show that failed to live up to its expectations (as in the original run) and the rats have started to leave the sinking ship.
I realize that the second scenario doesn't play to the libertarian paraoid fantasies of government interference in the entertainment industry, but come on .... doesn't the White House have enough to do without interfering with fictional TV shows?

I was kidding, but you knew that. I never thought the administration got directly involved, just the members of the media (in this case ABC heads) who seem to follow Obama with a similar zeal that some of the characters of this show devote to the aliens. As far as being shitty why would they scud the lead producer and edit down the premier before it was even screened if it wasn't to change the content? Anyway the rating were good. LINK

This isn't even worth talking about. I don't think the V TV show was even intended to be a metaphor for Obama, they were just following the storyline of the original series and it happened to line up with current events.

Yet you're usually one of the first to give your opinions, not that you actually say much. Just a little name calling to let everyone know what side you're on. Maybe a little more practice of what you preach is in order and just don't participate in the these threads that seem to hurt your feelings so thoroughly.
As far as the TV show, there is no way they edited down a 2 hour premier to 1 hour like that for any other reason. If it was just crap let it stand, what they're doing to the show will kill it anyway, and they know it. No they edited it for what they felt was objectionable content. It just goes to show how the media in this country is absolutely frightened to death even to appear to criticize Obama. Pathetic.

I know no one cares, but that has never stopped me before so....
I watched the episode tonight. A lot better and not such a fragmented plot. The one thing I did notice was from the beginning where they say "Last week on V" they changed some of the dialog from the previous week. Where the character said something like "They have a powerful weapon, hope." this week hope was changed to "a diversion".

Try to keep focused on the topic at hand: you thought V was some sort of attack on Obama, but the exact same storyline about aliens offering a cure for cancer, etc was presented when Reagan was in office. And he wasn't offering free healthcare, was he? Therefore, the entire reason you started this thread is bullshit.
You ask for people to respond to the substance of your post and when they do you bury your own head up your ass and don't respond. That would be considered trolling if this entire board wasn't just one big pit of trolling.

No I said it criticized Obama, at least the original article did, just like the original series criticized the unquestioning devotion of some people to Reagan, this one criticizes the unquestioning devotion of people like you to Obama.
