I generally think rehab is not very useful or successful, and I disagree with a lot of what Dr. Drew preaches, but the guy is, on some level, very sincere and not deserving of THIS type of disrespect or cheap, popcorn ridicule.

Mary Carey has now shown her true colors, and Dr. Drew must come to terms with the fact that a lot of what he deals with with people who USE and ABUSE substances is NOT their "disease" of addiction talking, but it is the REAL fucking person. Many addicts are addicts because they WANT that more than anything else in life...and no amount of group sessions or one-on-one or whatever is going to change that. In fact, all rehab does for these selfish sociopaths is make them BETTER at the cons they perpetrate on others.

In Mary's case, her boyfriend/pimp/agent is the real problem...Mary is too weak and uninspired to make fun of, and mock, and reap a few bucks OFF of Dr. Drew in this manner...her annoying, insecure, scumbag pisspot of a boyfriend is the driving force. He is a real fucking jerk, and doesnt care about anything or anyone except his own pathetic ass. We could break it down and spend a lot of time on him but whats the point? The Irony here is that the BOYFRIEND/Agent is actually LAZIER than Mary, because he wants MAry drinking and pilling it up, because THAT is what will keep her wobbling on stage in her platforms earning every night at strip clubs he books her at...all he has to do is simply drive her from city to city and check in to the hotel and order his room service, pour booze down her throat, throw her a fuck to get his rocks off and make her feel like she is STILL hott and desirable, and he is in business.

I fucking HATE pricks like him, hypocritical judgmental little pisspots...

Either way, Mary is becoming more and more Hideous the deeper she falls into this pitt. The few times we saw her when she was sober and happy, her appearance improved dramatically.

I agree with Burglar. I think Dr. Drew is for the most part full of it, plus being a bit of a media whore. But I also get a certain sincerity from him, and I think he truly cares about these people. He tried to help her and what does she do? She takes a big shit on him. I mean, she certainly could have continued her train wreck life and jumped both feet back into porn, but I really have to question why someone would go so far out of their way to really rub Drew's face in it. It truly is a chickenshit move. This is beyond "whores lie". According to TMZ Drew put out a Twitter thing simply saying it makes him sad. I think it truly does. The sooner this cunt does her River Pheonix impersonation, the better.

I don't agree that rehab isn't useful, but the problem is that most people who go to rehab don't necessarily want to quit. They went because their parents/significant other/boss made them, or because they were court-ordered and it was their alternative to jail. The thing about sobriety is that it's not just about stopping the drinking or the drugging, it's really about changing your life and your perspective. The first time I went to rehab, I didn't really want to quit-- I just thought I could learn how to drink in moderation. So when I started drinking again, it was something I'd planned all along. The second time I went was when I fully admitted defeat-- I knew I couldn't ever drink again: not in moderation, not on special occasions, not on holidays, not at my wedding-- NEVER. And I had to open myself up to a new way of living, a new set of friends (though I've still kept my closest friends who were thankfully NOT bad influences on me), and really I had to explore a more spiritual side of life to help me adjust to this enormous change. Now I am not religious in any sense, but I've done a lot of reading, discussion, and self-exploration that has brought me to a place where I can be content with myself (most of the time-- I am far from perfect). I think I am also able to stay in porn because essentially I work with my family, friends, and people of my own choosing. I run my own business and I find creative freedom in my work. Plus my personal life exists outside of the porn bubble, which I think keeps me balanced.

Sobriety is for those who want it, not for those who need it. For a true alcoholic/addict, it is absolutely one of the hardest things you will ever do in your lifetime. But for me, I feel that now that I've conquered my addiction I can do almost anything. It's a truly liberating experience. The trick is remembering that it's a daily reprieve and that I need to keep myself in check so that I don't slip back into that hole I spent so many years trying to crawl of of.

Also I think a big part of my success the second time around was sober living. Some people are in sober living for years-- how ever long it takes them to adjust to their new way of living. For me, it forced me to go to meetings and forge new friendships with people who were going through the same thing I was. I have made some amazing friends in sober living that I am still very close to.

Some of us have lower bottoms than others-- everybody's path is different. I hope Mary finds hers and that it brings her happiness. But until she surrounds herself with people who support her sobriety, she will struggle. I have always had my fingers crossed for her.

Holly's success at rehab doesnt count, for a slew of reasons, not the least of which Holly is superior in just about every facet to the average, selfish, damaged crack ho, boozing bimbo or pill popping pig that you often find in rehab. Holly is intelligent, a woman of breeding and culture, with a warm and loving heart and a lot to live for, who just happened to like Vodka a wee bit too much and was afraid she was going to end up in someone's bed that she would otherwise not date...Holly didnt hit skid row or kill anyone with her car, her apparent "Bottom" is still way the hell ABOVE most chicks' HIGH POINT. I'd bet my fleet of wheelchairs that Holly would have straightened herself out without rehab; but it's typical to her gracious nature to be humble and give credit to her rehab group.

I just believe, in my experience, the people who WANT to quit and straighten their lives out who are hooked on a substance do so MOSTLY because of themselves and their own inner strength; rehab (as it is conventionally practiced these days) generally, while helping a few people, for the most part just makes addicts into BETTER more efficient ADDICTS. I dont know how many times I have heard people with drug problems say that they learned "A SHITLOAD of new drug sources and techniques" in rehab from other addicts.

Rehab removes too much responsibility from addicts by blaming "THE DISEASE" and a slew of other issues from childhood or whatever....so many whores I am friends with use the ubiquitous "RAPE" card as the reason for their pill popping. They dont take responsibility for themselves or their actions.

Scary Mary Carey has had many chances to clean up, and blows it each time. Why? Because she doesnt WANT to be clean, or she wants a life of easy money and no responsibility, and within that Drugs and booze play a vital role in keeping her in the frame of mind she needs to be so that she may continue to do the degrading shit she does to earn the easy $$$ she needs (and her scumbag boyfriend needs.)

Thank you for enlightening us. Now, please tell us how many times you have been admitted to a rehab facility? You speak liberally about 'your experience', but there's not much of substance (no pun intended) to back up your claim.

I know you have a Holly shrine at your castle, but it would be nice if you could try to not let it impair your vision on the rest of the world.

With me it is real simple....In addition to having a crapload of medical reasons to gobble pills by the handful, I've also attained a position in life where I am no longer responsible for anyone else except ME (I dont need to work except on things I voluntarily choose, I no longer drive myself anywhere but have hired drivers, so I need not worry about crashing into anyone with a motor vehicle, and I am not committed to any person who might feel the need or right to "clean" me up.) That being said, I can readily admit to being, at times, PHYSICALLY dependent on such things as opiates, but not ADDICTED. There is a difference between dependence and addiction....

I have NEVER EVER been to any type of rehab or therapy for substances. Anytime I feel I want to stop taking <whatever>, or feel the need to take a break, I simply do so, and I suck it up and endure the physical withdrawal symptoms for the several days that they last. I can do this for a number of reasons...most people who take drugs like Oxy or Morphine require a "tapering" or methadone program to get PHYSICALLY off the drugs. I do not, mainly because the pain I suffer that causes me to take the drugs in the first place is far worse than any temporary withdrawal syndrome, however miserable THAT may be. Withdrawal is shortlived, I know there is a light at the end of that tunnel....the pain of my conditions is NOT shortlived, it is permanent and intractable.

Now I could become a total drug addled basket case, surrendering to both my disease's pain and the lure that opiates hold to make life "Bliss" but I do not. I simply DO NOT...maybe I am lucky, or maybe I am just a strong willed prick, or both.

"My experience" encompasses many friends and acquaintances in all walks of life and professions, but a large portion of them are indeed in the adult entertainment biz (strippers, escorts, and a few porn stars) upon whose expreience I observe and draw conclusions.

What I said about Holly is what I believe the truth to be, but I am not trying to change Holly's mind...she obviously has strong convictions about herself and her experience, and bottom line, they are working for her. Im speaking out on behalf of the failure of Mary Carey ONCE AGAIN to right her ship and not fall into the black hole of her addiciton. My experience includes knowing many people who have gone through rehab, often several times, and still struggle and fall apart and even die in the end.

I am not the only one to distrust modern rehab treatments and strategies. A large and growing body of people now recognize that treatment and therapy alone do not work for the majority of addicts, especially in the wake of drugs like Meth, and the purer forms of Heroin that now flood the streets.

The best hope for addicts who you love is for them to either learn to conquer the situation on their own, or to become FUNCTIONAL users, like a Mia Rose. She is able to blitz for a while, stop and come down/clean up...maintain for a while, and then use again in such a way that doesnt snuff her life out or irreparably damage it. I have the utmost respect and for chicks like her that can do that. They find an equilibrium between using and functioning and turn into really fun and cool people to be around.


FYI -- My Holly Shrine is long gone, but I stand by what i said about her and women like her having a far better chance of success with rehab than other more damaged and debauched girls.

I wish Mary nothing but the best but I hope she gets her life in order. She was a real cutie a few years ago.
