What is going on at AIM? The service over the past several months has gone from bad to even worse. The place is a mess. Results are always late, and when you call at anytime during the day you get a recording that says leave a message, and of course you never get called back. The people who work the front desk are rude and lazy, and if you ask them anything about the tests or ask for advice about anything they just say that you have to deal with it however you feel best. What kind of crap is that? I asked about how to check for herpes and they lady told me "if youve been in the industry for over two months then you have it." When I asked if I should tell the people I work with she said, "not if you want to keep working, its no big deal, dont even bring it up."
I asked to speak with Sharon Mitchell and they told me that they are all counselors so you can talk to one of us. When I insisted on speaking to Miss Mitchell they said she was out of town and theyre not sure when she will be in. After a few more minutes she told me that sharom Mitchell is hardly there anymore, maybe a few days a month because she lives out of town now. I asked to speak to whoever was in charge and they let me talk to a lady named brooke who said she had been a performer for years and I better get tough if I want to make it in this industry. I told her I thought the service was bullshit and she said thats your problem and asked me to leave. I talked to a guy named Paul on my way out and told him this place is bullshit and he said Im sorry but what else could they do.How does sharon mitchell run this place if she is never there and lives out of town. The couseling you get is total bullshit. Isnt AIM supposed to be for the performers to help them. What a fucking joke. I called the next day for my results at 4:00 and they told me thay hadnt been processed yet. Icalled back at 4:45 and was told they would be ready tomorrow. We need another testing place. This is a fucking joke. Now I find out that this is a nonprofit organization that is suposed to help performers. They dont do shit except take your money and give your results. if you want anything else thats too bad.
How do the employees not even know when sharon mitchell will be there. What does she get paid for if she is only there three or four days a month. When I asked to see the doctor for a checkup they said they dont do that, they doctor just checks for things related to the buisness like bladder infections or yeast infections. I asked the doctor about the HPV vaccine and he said it was not effective for people who have already been as sexually active as me. Then I asked the lady at the front desk about the vaccine and she told me how much it would cost and I could get it right now. What a bunch of fucking bullshit.
We need someone who knows how to run a clinic and someone who will be there to help us. What are we paying this place for if they dont do shit to help us? And if you want to get tested somewhere else then companies wont hire you. Its like they know you cant go anywhere else so they dont give a shit if the service is crap. I think if all the agents got together and told them to get their shit together they would have to listen. Can somone please help us?

I'm confused. How long does lab work at AIM usually take?
Without a frame of reference it's impossible to agree or disagree with the OP about poor, slow service.
And please clean up your post so it's easier on the eyes. You can think of it as practicing a real world skill which could be useful for when you are done with porn.

If AIM takes the stance of the BIG three and goes about as business as usual then AIM will a wake up call.... AIM is not a monopoly....so the question is....sounds like you use them.....on a regular basis....its not a problem with "her" it is a problem with "them"...them being AIM.... get over them...that just the way they do business. If you go elswhere to get tested alot of companies and other performers wont work with you , they say you need to have an AIM test.
And RIGHT NOW if you call AIM Sharon Mitchells voice mail says "I am out of the clinic for weeks at a time." What is she getting paid for? I am sorry that my first post was a rant. I was just so pissed off. And AIM says they will have your results the next day. What a bunch of bullshit.

While this site is adult, the problem is the majority of the posters here don't know the first thing about what is going on in the biz (besides a select few). Yes there are many companies that will not hire someone unless they have an AIM test. Non profit? You're kidding right?

The tests are usually available the next day, but it's not guaranteed. You don't want to place your bets on the test being available the next day, just in case. And it's not true that if you test somewhere else people won't hire you. I just worked with a girl a week ago who'd been tested somewhere else. As long as the testing place is valid and you can check up on it, there's no problem. If you've got a lazy producer that doesn't want to do their homework, then yes they'll probably say they only want AIM tests done. And to be fair everyone knows the AIM offices and they are trusted by people in the industry-- we all know about cases (one in particular) where people faked their results. Testing at AIM (and being able to call and checkup on it) is a sure way to make sure everything is kosher.
And why would you try to get a regular checkup at the AIM clinic? Go to a regular doctor's office, for christssakes.

Thank you holly. Im not from L.A. My obgyn is in new york. Does anyone here know whee else to get tested and how much it costs?
But im still pissed at AIM. And shron mitchell is out of the ofice for weeks at a time. That is bullshit. She runs a nonprofit company, is never there, and takes our money. thats bullshit.

I know a lot of people who use Talent Testing Services...
AIM is a hassle and you can't rely on next-day results. Especially testing over the weekend!
Planned Parenthood is free if you want to get a pap or basic checkup. They also give out birth control and stuff no charge.

The most blatant lie was that every new performer gets a pelvic exam and pap smear. That is total bullshit. I am going to watch it again, and see how many more times she lied.And I think she said the std rate was 1.8%, and that is bullshit according to her own employee who said they test 40 to 50 people a day and get "at least two positives a day for gonnoreah or chlaydia. This is bullshit. How can she get away with lying like that in a government hearing. Do the adult companies know she is lying about this stuff, or do they just not care?

I'm just talking about in terms of getting a normal physical-- I think the various adult talent testing places are where you should go for your monthly checkup. The model I referred to who tested elsewhere did test at Talent Testing Service. I've not heard of anything about them, though.
The problem with a free clinic for adult performers is that the testing does cost money-- as does the facility, paying the wages of those who work there, etc. It's a little difficult to fund it through charity because let's face it, a lot of people aren't willing to get behind a charity that caters to the porn industry. They'd rather save homeless puppies or starving children in Africa.

Yes, AIM is a 501c3 nonprofit charity. For a (donation) of 120 you get your tests. No "donation", no tests. How can the director of a nonprofit charity take a salary but never be there? And the president of the board is porn producer ernest greene. A porn producer the president of the board of directors for a nonprofit medical clinic!!!!! Something is not right.

So what if Sharon Mitchell is absent? Does she need to be at the clinic for the tests to work properly?

What I meant by a testing place as a charity was that you cannot test performers for free-- which AIM obviously does not do. They need that per performer test rate to keep their facility running-- and I also do not see why Sharon has to be at the medical clinic at all times. She's put many years into AIM and can do what she pleases at this point. Look, I don't want to appear as if I'm jumping on the AIM-bashing bandwagon-- I shot their calendar this year and I am friendly with everyone there, so I support AIM. We've always had good experiences with them, and we've known Sharon for years.

She talkes amonthly salary out of those donations. She should not be out of the office for "weeks at a time" like her own voicemail says. She is the executive director. How many other charity directors are away from their buisness for weeks at a time and continue to take their salary. Hire somebody who will be there. What good is she to the performers if shes not there?

AIM has about eight or nine employees total(most are just front desk or specimen collectors). Sharon Mitchel is THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. On a daily basis right now, the person in charge at AIM is named Brooke, a former performer who has NO previous medical experience of any kind. NONE!!!

It is unusual for the director of a medical clinic to not be there for weks at a time and still get paid. If you didnt show up at your workplace for weeks at a time would you get paid?
And you cant see the conflict of interest of having porn producers be the heads of the board of directors for a medical clinic that is supposed to be for the BENEFIT of the PERFORMERS. Sounds like theyre more interested in protecting the concerns of the "industry" than the performers. Do you honesly not see the conflict of interest?

No conflict. It doesn't matter who runs the place as long as you get reliable blood tests. It's been mentioned earlier that there were other places to test.
Do you want Sharon to be your personal physician or to personally draw your blood or run the lab tests? her absence doesn't seem to impact the quality of service either way.

There are dodgy people everywhere in every occupation - you've got to find a doctor who suits you and who you feel comfortable with, just as you do for dentists, car mechanics, financial advisers, teachers, pornstars, sports, etc etc
Also most advice is general - everyone is unique and what applies to the "general population" may not apply to you or your situation

Performers and company owners may go to Talent Testing Services or even the Hollywood Free Clinic if they wish. Testing in porn is not mandatory in any state. Testing is a nice thing that performers do for eachother and companies feel good about.
I've been in the adult entertainment industry since 1994. I've seen a bunch of shit. For now I am working at the Chicken Ranch Brothel. This is because Nevada takes the health of it's workers and the public very seriously. In fact, when the 2004 HIV outbreak hit porn the sister state of Nevada felt that the only way to protect the publics health was to discriminate against all California porn performers and forbid them to work in the brothels. That is on its face discrimination and a bold stand against the lack of health and safety in California porn. I am still using the same vagina in the same manner as a tool of my trade but in a state that knows condoms are protection and testing is merely a checks and balance system to ensure that the work site is safe. I invite all female performers who are sick and tired of running around the porn industry to come and play with me at the Chicken Ranch Brothel. Take a break from the stresses of LA and make some good money.
