WMD were found within days, no doubt about it (the drums of radioactive material from the nuclear program in the 1980s). The problem, as you note, is that more was promised, and more has not yet been found and likely will not be.

I don’t think anyone ever thought it was about imposing democracy.
My guess is that they believed Iraq was behind Palestinian instability and that removing Iraq would enable a long-term Middle-East solution. Nearly every US president seems to fall prey to belief that they can solve this problem.
Once they knew what they wanted they asked around for excuses to justify it, and there are more than enough Yes-Men in Washington to say anything if you are clear enough to what the Right Answer is first.
The other problem is that they overlooked the fact that while the US military is designed to defeat any other military in the world, the US military isn’t designed to occupy any country much more advanced than Haiti. The US military is designed as a defensive force that might, at worst, retake territory lost, but is not designed as an aggressor force that takes and holds foreign territory. Winning a War is not the same as Winning a Peace, and throwing Iraq out of Kuwait presents very different post-battle problems than occupying Iraq.

i'm so sick of self-loathing being stylish--the guy was one of the 5 most brutal and despotic rulers out there. you can argue other causes were more pressing, not that removing a ruler sharing the mental profile as most of the "evil" figures in history was in any way wrong. gassing his own people, torturing soccer teams for losing, even fishing with dynamite---he's a paranoid shithead with the ability to do the unspeakable to anyone, friend, citizen, and with a real nuclear program-you. they found enough stuff, despite the time he had to get rid of it. kofi and vaginal UN commisions and diplomacy will always get their bluff called by guys like saddam, it's a shame we took him alive.

The big medical centers, like Walter Reed, always did free plastic surgery for "practice" for the service members stationed at those bases. The military has plastic surgeons to do reconstructions after cancer, accidents and what have you and they have to learn somewhere so they practice on the troops. I'm pretty sure you could even travel to those bases on your own leave time with command approval prior to the media saying anything about it. They're just out of shit to write about. That said, I served a little over 6 years and I got my boobs done while active duty, on my own leave time...and knowing what I know about military doctors I opted to pay a civilian surgeon for the work. Sometimes you get what you pay for and free boobs from a newbie plastic surgeon....eichhhh......

You don't have to give up your citizenship to join the US army. You have to be a legal resident. I like the definition of citizenship, though. "Something you can use." Sorta revealing there.
Thats right. Even the US military is outsourcing. Join the army and become a US citizen.
