cqd,

You mean Dragon Age, not Dragon Age 2, right? If so, then trust me, I have played that one to death. My "killer" character was also a thief. He specialized in archery & stealth, but by the end (and by "end" I mean through the expansion, "Awakenings") had also picked up enough dual-wield feats to be pretty scary. With Roses Thorn in one hand and Starfang in the other, he simply owned up-close and then would switch to a bow and nail them from far away with stealth criticals.

I really enjoyed the combat in Dragon Age I, but I actually thought it was better in DA2. It flowed better, had a very "cinematic" feel to it without giving up the tactical options that the first one had. My biggest beef with DA2 was the lack of variety (and often just out-right repetition) of the gameplay areas.

EDIT: Oh, and the length too. DA I just felt -- EPIC, HUGE. I mean, my first play-through took about 100 hours -- no kidding. Dragon Age 2 was long enough, don't get me wrong, but it just didn't have that sweep that that DA1 had.

It's easy to spend 100 hours a week playing video games when you don't have a job.

I'm stoked too, but less so the more I keep playing Mass Effect 2. Everything was great until they sprung the talking geth on me. It's getting kind of campy.

Tritone, the exploration in ME sucked ballz. I loved the Galaxy Map and the idea of exploring it, but you're telling me you actually enjoyed driving that janky rover thing around, bouncing off walls, and having to hide behind rocks to cheaply finish off impossibly tough larger enemies? The ground combat was fucking silly as well. I felt like I was shooting one of those plastic guns that fire foam balls. I'll even go as far as to say that the game was damn near broken. The story and conversation trees pretty much made that game for me.

Mass Effect 2 fined-tuned the combat to feel more fluid and realistic, and also put up a lot more lines of dialogue for the conversations. It also greatly expands on the mythology of the game's universe, especially if you read the codex and the planet descriptions. The only problem I had with ME2 was the campy tone that started small and gradually picked up until it exploded in my face with a talking geth. Still, I've already put my $60.00 down on ME3 and am excited to see how the whole thing concludes.

Runs on the source engine instead of number 2 which ran on the unreal engine.

Highly recommended.

Well, sometimes, you pay for your reviews in other media, so proof or not, I've no reason to believe games are any different. How can reviewers hate the juvenile humor in Postal, but go on to praise the living hell out of the uber-juvenile humor in Saints Row 3?

I think bigger publishers have the ability to grease the right wheels when it comes to reviews. Alpha Protocol got downright slammed in the fucking reviews, and I keep reading post after post of gamers amoungst various forums of how cool it is and worth the money, despite a few bugs and bad design choices.

Is Valve involved in Postal 3, or did they just license out their engine?

I'm really looking forward to The Witcher 2 finally coming to console. I hear it's taking some strong graphical hits, but is still shaping up nicely, but then again, all the PC reviews I've read for that game had the same sentiments that the story and dialogue drive a somewhat glitchy gameplay experience, so much so that it earned perfect 10 scores for story and dialogue alone.

They just licensed the source engine. Postal 3 is everything you want it to be. I have a badger that I can walk up to people with and it will gnaw their neck opened and the alternate fire makes it piss in their faces...

Witcher 2 isn't all about graphics and is the best RPG I have played in years. You won't be disappointed with it at all.

I didn't care for the streamlining of the inventory system in ME2 and I'm happy that ME3 will basically have a hybrid of the two previous games' systems. I also like the different play modes because there are some times where I just want to blaze through the combat and get some story stuff in and other times where I want to just completely wreck shit and not worry about the story. The latest trailer for the co-op mode looks fantastic...plus, you get to play as a fucking Krogan.

The exploration in ME1 suuuuuuucked. It was basically random planet with 40k-foot mountains and maybe 5k credits to be had. There was very little incentive to explore random planets when you'd just get trinkets that had no bearing on the story whatsoever (aside from the ruins that proved the Protheans visited Cromagnon man). I didn't really enjoy the forced vehicle segments in the DLC for ME2, but Lair of the Shadow Broker more than made up for it.

I think I played through ME1 fifteen times and I've played through ME2 seven times. Never completed a FemShep playthrough.

if you still have your saves I believe ME3 is persistent.

And I always play female characters in RPGs for some reason.

I noticed a while back you got breath of death. I have it but haven't fussed with it. Any good?

It's pretty amazing considering it was made by three guys who, based on the strength of the two games they've done, have been hired to do the next installment of the Penny Arcade Adventures RPG.

And yeah, I've got several maxed-out characters in ME2 with different decisions made at key points.

Which one of you has this game?

I think I need to adapt the controls to a Tony Hawk game or maybe Tetris.

EDIT: I found this while looking for a pic of a girl with a wiimote up her ass. I can't find any and even resorted to asking the sleazy girls I know but none of them own any video games.

Yeah I am bad but in BF3 there are ways to get kills without superquick reflexes unlike mw3.

I'm terrible but not the kind of person who rages when they suck.

I would have recommended the PC version though 64 player multiplayer is noticeably better than 24 player. There is constantly shit going on.

I have also pre-ordered ME3. I bought Steam on a $5 on Steam and liked it, I didn't even play ME. I even downloaded the shitty Kingdoms demo to get more stuff in ME3.

Where did you guys pre-order from? Origin? Best Buy? Digital or hard copy?

Battlefield 3 and FPS will always be better on PC.

My computer is not super great and I am more than satisfied with BF3 on the ps3. It would be cool to have more players most of the time but it might get crowded in RUSH matches. I am still getting used to the ps3 controller, i long for the genesis controller's simplicity :P

Preordered from Walmart since the register monkey at Gamestop fucked up and didn't switch me to the Collector's Edition once it was announced. I would play more games on PC, but none of my friends have game-worthy PCs. I'm one of those sick fucks with a laptop that can run Borderlands at 720p at 90fps.

The demo came out today and if you have BF3 the multiplayer is available. Its more co-op than multi. You and up to three others fend off waves of attackers and a couple of small missions in the middle. the single player is the opening Reaper attack and a mission somewhere else in the game.

I liked both.

All of the Wiimote in ass pics were gay, so we're just going to have to settle for vag inserts until someone gets creative enough to make this happen.

It's pretty cool. You switch between white and black bullets/shields. White heavily damages black, and vice versa.

For any other PC gamers the Alan Wake port from the XBOX is amazing. Better lighting and graphics but we had to wait a year.

If you want a fresh survival/horror title check it out@30$. It's episodic in it's story telling, game has 6 episodes.

I have been playing a lot of Chantelise:A tale of 2 sisters.

It's a JRPG beat'em up dungeon crawler and it's hard as hell. Strongly recommended at 10$. It helps to have a joystick or a controller though because the keyboard controls are a bit wonky but just take some getting used to.

And it is GRIND HEAVY.

I installed Dungeon Siege on my computer this morning. Apparently I had this game and played it before. I thought I finished a run through it years ago but I must have played it on easy mode or something becasue it is kicking my ass. I've gone and checked some strategy guides and apparently I've just wasted a whole day becasue I've over specialized in combat magic. I've reached the point in the game where I'm picking up party members that I can train up but my combat mage is kick ass so it kills shit too fast for the other members to level up and the mobs are stronger and in groups so I'm getting my ass handed to me.

Yeah, pathetic nerds are actually getting depressed over the dissapointment. Fans have raised over 35,000 to charity to encourage Bioware to re-write it. I haven't seen it yet, so don't spoil it for me, Bill, but I have a feeling I'm not going to like it too much.

ME3 sucked. There was not enough effort t tie in what your character did in the first 2 games, and the fact that you needed to READ A FUCKING COMIC to get filled in between 2 and 3 was terrible.

Seriously? I was wondering what the fuck happened and how 3's scenario came to be.

The biggest complaint that I can lodge with the game so far is the lame squad options. I spent the first twelve hours of the game with two people that I hate (james and Edi) and two people from the first two games that I never used (garrus and liara). Now I have one person that I like (tali). Where's my fucking Krogan?

Oh yeh, and you won't be up to speed unless you BUY lair of the shadowbroker. One of the ME2 DLCs. If you ask me rather than trying to raise money for a new ending they should never ever buy bioware games.

Same gripe I had with dragon age. You shouldn't need to buy DLC to get the story of a game. And Bioware is BAD for this.

I'm walking in the forest in Dragon Age. I see a guy get attacked and I go to search the body/help.

On the screen pops a message telling me I can spend x bioware points to start that quest!!!

Talk about breaking any immersive feelings I was having about the game.

Also I am a PC gamer so dicking around with points is way more of a pain in the ass. It takes me out of the game to a browser to a log in to a store etc.

And point systems are just as insulting as arcade tokens. Sure I can spend them but the business ALREADY has my money even if I don't manage to spend the exact amount of points I purchased.

Fartz, I believe the comic isn't hard to find online, and I think it's free. I just think the fact that fans didn't know about it (you) is really insulting to customers.

Last week I was reading some random online article reviewing computer games. They began discussing online games and reviewed several that failed and compared them to the successful ones.

This was the first time I ever heard of Eve Online.

The article essentially lambasted the game and the author seemed to be astonished that it was at all successful. Strangely, every reason the author used to slam the game made me become more and more interested in checking it out.

It was accused of being unfriendly, not having enough guidance or support, not having any immediate gratification, being overly complicated, having a steep learning curve, encouraging lying, cheating, stealing, and killing other players, and intentionally not policing bad behavior; even of experienced players taking advantage of newbies. Finally, the author of the article quoted one of the game developers as saying, "Eve Online was not designed to appear like a cold, harsh place, it is a cold harsh place." That line sealed it. I never finished the article because I googled the game, downloaded a trial version, and have been playing for about 3 days now.

Every negative comment about the game is true, and I really, really, like it.

There's so many things that I both love and hate about ME3. Remember, there's a publishing model here, so all hate about money grubbing should be lodged toward EA, not Bioware. Gripes about the game itself, should definitely be leveled toward Bioware.

There's an article that I refused to read because of spoilers, but the headline was "ME3 director Casey Hudson responds to fans feelings over ending: "We haven't heard the last of Commander Shepard". The first thing that came to mind was that EA has completely jumped the shark in the realm of robbing fans of their hard earned' after the initial $60.00 purchase. They are going to sell us the ending to a fucking game. Someone please read the article and tell me this isn't true.

I think it is going to be fucking true. I think the ending will be a DLC. How much of joke is that? Leave it for EA to come up with that.

EY! I am super excited to hear about your experiences in EVE. A buddy of mine and I have strongly considered it for a while.

Both veterans of space/commerce games but we're still scared of it.

I'm giving up on dungeon Siege. Its a good game in most regards but it looks like to really play you have to use the "pause" button and assign jobs to the party and such. I'm not big on turn based video games. The interface is very similar to Diablo but with more intricacy in tactics and character development. I just don't have the patience for the depth this game requires. I think World of Warcraft turned off of huge Time Sinks like this. I've been playing the original StarCraft and Warcraft 2 instead. I can save and stop easily and game play is more satisfying. I might install a first person shooter later if I can find my old Unreal discs or maybe Star Trek Voyager.

You can download a 14 day free trial from the website, and I think, as a paid member, I can send you a 21 day free trial, but I don't know how to do that yet.

Anyway, believe all the negative reviews, what they say is true. It does have a strong commerce system at its core, but it'll be a long, long, long time before you will be able to have the money and skills to get into that. In the beginning you spend all your time running some often repetitive "quests" for NPCs building skills and trying to build a nest egg of money. Also, since it has the steepest learning curve of any game I have ever played, you mostly spend time in the beginning learning how the game works.

The most interesting thing about it is that how much time you spend playing the game does not at all influence how quickly you gain experience and skills. Skills are trained in real time. If a skill takes 7 days to train, that is a real world week not "in game time", so it doesn't matter if you spend 100 hours over those 7 days online playing the game or don't sign on at all that week. The time you spend online is used to make money and explore the game. It is kinda nice to know that if you have a job and only want to kill a couple of hours on the weekend playing online, some kid who started the same time as you, but who stays up playing 20 hours a day all week long isn't going to be any more advanced than you are.

Of course that is after you've been playing for a couple of weeks, in the beginning skills only take a few minutes to train.

Anyway if you decide to check it out, let me know.

Arkam city looks neat but the combat is super simplistic. Don't bother.

Episodes from liberty... is awesome. If we are talking about the same thing. The motorcycle gang one is great fun but ballad of gay brucie has some incredibly difficult flying missions.

I picked up GTA Vice City yesterday and it is every bit as fun as it was 10 years ago.
