SALT LAKE CITY - Sadie and Pyper Vance have had just about enough of high gas prices. The sisters are still years away from being old enough to drive, but that doesn't mean the $4 per gallon price tag isn't hitting them as hard as anyone else.

Cable TV was one of the family's budget-cutting casualties, leaving Sadie, 9, and her 7-year-old sister without their favorite cartoons and shows.

"Gas prices are too high," Sadie said. "I just decided to come and protest so they'd go down."

The girls marched through downtown Monday chanting and carrying signs made from old campaign signs.

"All of my mom's monny goes to the gas tank!" Pyper's sign read. Sadie carried a sign asking drivers to honk to lower gas prices — adding that her mom had to cut "cabel."

The girls got some waves and a few thumbs-up to show support.

"I think it's great," said Hamid Tayeb, who was walking past on his lunch break. "It's unfortunate that kids are doing it before we do."

As kids, we knew it was the kiss of death to EVER tell our parents we were bored. We'd either be assigned chores or parents would say "What's wrong are you too stupid to find something fun to do?"

We always found something fun to do, and it was always outside, and it never required a carpool or a clock or even much money from the parents.

Anyway, back on topic of the girls who want OPEC to pay for their cable... We weren't poor growing up but I remember the gas crisis in the early 70's. Pop was a G-Man so his gov't car was always full. Mom didn't have to drive much because we kids rode our bikes the two miles to school. I never remember us having to "cut-back" on anything though as a very young child I remember "WIN" buttons and I can remember Mom carrying one of those red handheld adding devices to the grocery store.

Don't forget odds and even days at the gas station.

Woman kills husband with folding couch

A Russian woman in St Petersburg killed her
drunk husband with a folding couch, Russian
media reported.

St Petersburg's Channel Five said the man's
wife, upset with her husband for being drunk
and refusing to get up, kicked a handle after
an argument, activating a mechanism that folds
the couch up against a wall.

The couch, which doubles as a bed, folds up
automatically in order to save space.

The man fell between the mattress and the back
of the couch, Channel Five quoted emergency
workers as saying.

The woman then walked out of the room and
returned three hours later to check on what
she thought was an unusually quiet sleeping husband.

Police refused to comment.

Court: Wisconsin law bans sex with dead bodies

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin law bans sex with dead bodies, the state Supreme Court ruled Wednesday in reinstating charges against three men accused of digging up a corpse so one of them could have sex with it.

The court waded into the grisly case after lower court judges ruled nothing in state law banned necrophilia. Those decisions prompted public outrage and a push by a state lawmaker to make sex with a corpse a crime.

In Wednesday's 5-2 decision, the high court said Wisconsin law makes sex acts with dead people illegal because they are unable to give consent.

The ruling reinstates the attempted sexual assault charges against twin brothers Nicholas and Alexander Grunke and Dustin Radke, all 22. The charges carry a punishment of up to 10 years in prison.
Justice Patience Roggensack, writing a majority opinion with three other justices, said state law bans sexual intercourse with anyone who does not give consent "whether a victim is dead or alive at the time."

"A reasonably well-informed person would understand the statute to prohibit sexual intercourse with a dead person," she wrote.
Jefren Olsen, an attorney who represented Radke, said the decision was flawed because the law was never intended to punish necrophilia.

"Obviously, the facts are rather notorious and not the easiest to deal with," he said. "I assume that had some impact."
Police say the three men, carrying shovels, a crowbar and a box of condoms, went to a cemetery in southwestern Wisconsin in 2006 to dig up the body of Laura Tennessen, 20, who had been killed the week before in a motorcycle crash.

Nicholas Grunke had seen an obituary photo of her and asked the others for help digging up her corpse so he could have sexual intercourse with it, prosecutors say.

Authorities say the men used shovels to reach her grave but were unable to pry open the vault. They fled when a car drove into the cemetery and were eventually arrested.

The men were charged with attempted third-degree sexual assault and misdemeanor attempted theft charges. The case has been on hold as prosecutors appealed the dismissal of the assault charges.

Suzanne Edwards, a lawyer representing Nicholas Grunke, said she was disappointed in the decision. She said the men will be arraigned on the charges and have a chance to plead not guilty.
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, whose office represented prosecutors in the appeal, praised the decision.

"Words matter and the Legislature chose its words carefully to extend the sexual assault law to those heinous circumstances where a dead person is sexually assaulted, whether or not the defendant killed the victim," he said. "Necrophilia is criminal in Wisconsin."

The decision brings Wisconsin into line with more than 20 other states that prohibit necrophilia or the abuse of a corpse, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. California joined the group in 2004 after prosecutors said they couldn't bring charges in some cases without an official ban.
The law in Wisconsin had been murky, and two dissenting justices insisted Wednesday that lawmakers did not mean to ban necrophilia but to allow assault charges when someone was raped and then killed.

Women arrested in sex competition

Nine British women were facing prostitution
charges after being arrested at the weekend
for taking part in an oral sex competition in
the Greek holiday island of Zakynthos, police
said on Monday.

Six British and six Greek men, including two
bar owners, were also charged in the incident,
which took place at Laganas beach in the south
of the Ionian island, which lies off the west
coast of mainland Greece, police said.

The women, who came to the popular resort on
holiday, had been paid to take part in the
competition, which was video recorded and was
to be posted on the Internet, police said.

The men were charged with encouraging
obscene behavior.

In recent years, Laganas has established
itself as one of Greece’s most popular destinations
for twenty-something holidaymakers and is known
for its wild party scene.

Around 15 million people — a fifth of them
British — visit the eastern Mediterranean country
each year, drawn by its soaring summer temperatures,
azure waters and sandy beaches.

Actor Skylar Deleon tries to cut off his penis while in prison on murder charges!



A man charged with murdering a couple at sea as part of a plot to steal their yacht tried to cut off his penis in jail, officials say.

Skylar Deleon, 29, somehow got a razor and “tried to saw off his penis” while in his cell on March 13, said Damon Micalizzi of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

“He was unsuccessful,” Micalizzi said. “As I understand it, there was a lot of blood.”

Micalizzi said he did not know if Deleon
stopped the effort himself or was interrupted
by a guard.

The former “Power Ranger” child actor was
taken to a hospital where his penis was re-attached.

Prosecutors say they will seek the death
penalty against Deleon for the 2004 murders
of Jackie and Thomas Hawks, of Prescott, Ariz.

The couple disappeared after taking Deleon
and three other men on a test cruise in their
55-foot yacht which they hoped to sell.

Prosecutors allege that Deleon and the others
blindfolded and handcuffed the Hawkses once
at sea and forced them to sign and fingerprint
documents transferring ownership of the “Well Deserved”
boat before tossing them overboard.

Their bodies have never been found.

Deleon’s ex-wife, Jennifer, has already been
convicted for her role in the alleged plot and
was sentenced in October to life in prison without parole.

Deleon’s trial is scheduled for Aug. 25.
