Brokers said this week that the Zimbabwe dollar broke the barrier of 10 billion to a single U.S. dollar in direct bank buying, while in electronic transfers, it exceeded 20 billion Zimbabwe dollars to $1 U.S.
Bread has disappeared from stores. Previously, a loaf in a supermarket cost 2 billion Zimbabwe dollars (20 U.S. cents at the official exchange rate), or 15 billion Zimbabwe dollars ($1.50 U.S.) on the black market, where prices of scarce items can vary up to 10 times higher.
A shopper lucky enough to find milk will spend 3 billion dollars (30 U.S. cents) for about 1 pint. A tray of 30 eggs, also scarce, can bought in a store for 45 billion dollars ($4.50 U.S.).
Butter is hard to find, but 17 1/2 ounces of margarine will cost 25 billion dollars ($2.50 U.S.) and a pack of 10 cookies costs 19 billion dollars ($1.90 U.S.).
Most stores and business across Zimbabwe have already knocked six zeros off price tags, showing 45,000 dollars for two pounds of scarce low grade beef — but at the cash register, it's tallied back at 45 billion dollars ($4.50 U.S.).
Moyo said a car battery was priced Monday at 2.4 trillion dollars ($240 U.S.), a tenfold increase in the past two weeks.
The largest Zimbabwean bill in circulation is a 50 billion note ($5 U.S.), while the smallest currency unit a one cent coin, which buys nothing by itself.

I read that book, it's great.
I mentioned jamesn because he gives me a 30 second synopsis of a situation/problem/solution before you've even rephrased my question back to me.
I think "the west" has ruined Africa. We should have either stayed there- ruled, dominated, cared for and exploited them, or we should have left them the hell alone. Flying in bales of dollars did not help them at all, and in fact has hurt them.
Every time I see a photo of a newly discovered Amazonian tribe I wonder how much longer it will be until we see them on infomercials wearing five year old superbowl losing team t-shirts standing in lines for a bowl of gruel, too weak to swat away the flies.
Edit: I know the Amazonian tribes are in South America- we've already fucked Africa over.

jesus burg, true but SERIOUSLY embarrassing story, between 8th and 9th grade my cousin comes down from norcal for a week we buy weed get high play videogames hang out with my friends for a few days have some fun im off to boarding school soon hes got all sorts of norcal slang says jigaboo and hella a few times, i sort of remember it whatever

btw, apparently the gov't decided ecotourism wasn't as pressing as food so they send troops into the preserves to gun down anything, toss it on a truck and carve it up for villagers.

You were never a slave and I doubt your great-great-grandparents (if you even know who they are) were ever slaves. I have never owned a slave and can, with all confidence state, that none of my ancestors going back at least 10 generations have never owned a slave. Fucking get over it already and do something constructive with your life.  The biggest racists I have ever met in my life have been black. Talk about the pot and the kettle.
