my all time favorite subway scam begins with, "excuse me ladies and gentleman, i am sorry for bothering you but..." and ends with 95% of straphangers ignoring them. quite frankly, it's embarassing to be a party to. have the homeless no shame?

As others have noted [Zenman?], there's a pizza place on the NW corner of 41st & 9th that sells pizza for $1/slice. And, it's still there at that price. It's not great, but it's cheap.
There's a nice farmer's market next door where I get better prices than in most Jersey stores [green peppers $1/lb, spanish onions 3lb/$1, etc.]. There's also a butcher next door to that which every week has something or another at a great price.
So Alex, there are good bargains in and around 9th & 42nd, but I don't recall any strip clubs.
I went there yesterday and bought the $1.00 slice of pizza. It is true, it costs only $1.00. I took a bus to get there. There are a lot of low-life people in that area and there is a meat shop next door.

He works in the city. He likely got a 30 day MetroCard. So he could ride the NYCTA all day long at no additional cost.
Even with a regular Metrocard, I sometimes split a trip with a quick stop off between bus and train to get a round trip out of a $2 fare with the free transfer.
Yup, I got the 30-day unlimited Metro Card.
When I say Metro, you say Card. Metro...
