McCain Wins; Giuliani Set to Drop Out

MIAMI — Senator John McCain defeated Mitt Romney on Tuesday to win the delegate-rich Florida primary, solidifying his transformation to the Republican front-runner and dealing a devastating blow to the presidential hopes of Rudolph W. Giuliani.

Candidate Topic PagesMore Politics NewsAides to Mr. McCain and Mr. Guiliani said that after Tuesday’s dismal third-place finish, the former New York mayor would drop out of the race later on Wednesday and was likely to endorse Mr. McCain. Republican officials said the two candidates’ staffs were discussing the logistics of an endorsement. The results were a decisive turning point in the Republican race, effectively winnowing the field to Mr. McCain and Mr. Romney, two candidates with very different backgrounds who have little affection for one another but share a similar challenge in winning over elements of the party suspicious of their ideological credentials...

Exit polls showed that Mr. Giuliani did not even have a clear edge among voters who were most concerned about his signature issue, terrorism; incomplete returns Tuesday night showed him narrowly finishing ahead of Mr. Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor, who barely campaigned in Florida.

Well, since the Dems seem hell bent on nominating a guy who cannot possibly win the General in November, and since America is not going to elect a guy named "Mitt" (Sorry, this ain't the 19th century, Rutherford,) it looks like the next President of the United States will be John McCain.

The downside of this is that he will most likely appoint Rudy Attorney General, which is almost as frightening as making him President.

Other than Boeskey, none.

Cleetus, as a lifelong Democrat, I've endured year after year of my Party's congenital inability to back a winner. They're falling over themselves to back Bammy and I don't see any signs of letup. Not that I'm all that fond of the Bulldyke, but she's got at least a chance to win. Little boy does not. Neither he nor any other brother can get elected in 2008. Neither he nor the country are ready for it. In a dozen years? I'd lay even money on it. But not now.

BTW: For the record, neither Mussolini nor Giuliani ever made the "trains run on time."

The Repubs must be shitting themselves silly over the fact that the two frontrunner democrats have little chance of winning. It's like they don't even care at this point whom they send out on Nov 7.
