there's no sense in continuing this argument. king, i usually enjoy arguing with you and learning about all the conspiracies against giant corporations, but this subject is actually upsetting me and keeping me from sleeping, which is stupid. most of your arguments are ludicrous, (i especially enjoy the one about how you care more about your animals needs than your own, but you refuse to say anything about the animals in the video, because peta are jerks  ) but i'm not going to win over many people on here, anyway, since most of you prefer to trash-talk an organization that you don't care for than to send an e-mail in support of some mistreated animals. really excellent judgement.

it was always "said" in my hometown that one of the chinese restaurants would pay for stray cats, which they supposedly would cook and serve. i always assumed it was bullshit, but they were eventually closed for 'health reasons.'

Pinkies are very, very late term rat/mouse abortions. Called pinkies because they are still hairless. It's fucking horrible but supposedly civilized people actually produce these things as a commodity to indulge their sickness of keeping snakes as pets.

Not sure where you’re going with this but living snakes need to eat and if I am able to step in and eliminate needless suffering on the prey then I do. From your question I am not sure if you consider this a problem.

So explain to me how this death by CO2 thing works, if it isn't suffocation? I bet it's peaceful for the pinkies, struggling gently for breath with lungs ablaze until they finally expire. At which point they can be harvested and safely fed to captive reptiles.

As you know, the majority of people don't get warm and fuzzy feelings for snakes and therefore don't support feeding snakes either. I for once grew up in a place where a snake bite could mean death, so snakes never made it into my list of friendly creatures. They're cold and cruel. I don't understand how anyone can keep them as pets. The same with insects... (shudder)

Frankly, while no friend of snakes I TOTALLY hate rats, so if there was some way of setting up mutually assured destruction, I would be completely down with that.

As for using CO2 according to the American Veterinary Medical Association's Panel on Euthanasia (Journal of the AVMA, Vol. 202, No. 2, Jan. 15, 1993), the most humane way to kill rats (and mice) that will be fed to other animals is with carbon dioxide gas.
If you do a bit of research on it I think you may find the answer you’re looking for.
I am not really sure of your questioning. Do you have issues with the natural food chain or with the idea of me eliminating needless suffering of a prey animal?

It seems that many people adopting these complex reptiles aren't really prepared to take care of them. Here's a list of incidents from just Florida alone:
January 11, 2008 / Key Largo, FL: A 10-foot-long Burmese python was discovered dead on U.S. 1; the snake was the seventh python found in the Florida Keys in the past nine months. (The Key West Citizen)
December 7, 2007 / Vero Beach, FL: A man mowing grass on the banks of a canal west of Vero Beach accidentally ran over and killed a 16-foot python. Vero Beach's Animal Control Officer told a local newspaper that the snake was the 20th large python or boa constrictor found in Indian River County in the past 10 years. (Vero Beach Press Journal)
November 24, 2007 / Christmas, FL: A landlord found a Nile monitor lizard in a cage at an abandoned mobile home. (WKMG Ch. 6, Orlando)
October 27, 2007 / Port St. Lucie, FL: A man was hospitalized after one of his pet snakes, a diamonback rattlesnake, bit him on the hand. Word of the bite panicked other residents at the Port St. Lucie condominium complex. One resident told local media about a previous incident in which a cobra had escaped from the man's condo. (Palm Beach Post, WPTV Ch. 5)
October 25, 2007 / Summerland Key, FL: A fourteen-foot python was discovered in the bushes in a parking lot in the Florida Keys. The snake was later claimed by a man who uses the snake to sell photos to tourists in Key West. The man explained that the python had been on the loose for two days; he was cited for allowing the escape of captive wildlife. (FWC Field Operations Weekly Reports)
October 24, 2007 / Tallahassee, FL: Four venomous snakes, including a King Cobra, were discovered in an abandoned storage unit. The animals were in poor health and may not have had food or water for weeks. (Central Florida News Ch. 13)
