Help getting in the industry

Greetings Everyone,
I've came across this board before linked off a few blogs I frequent, but I've never registered or posted until now.
I'm posting to ask if anyone could help me or direct me to a place I could go to get involved in the industry, not as talent, but moreso on the filming, production, backend side of things.
I currently run a design company, and have done so for the past 8 years, but I've become bored designing logos, websites and print materials for start ups and other established corporate companies.
Back in '97 I got into the industry for a couple years by launching a site with a couple friends featuring punk rock, tattooed, pierced and raver type girls. It was the first of it's kind that I knew of back then, we did all our recruiting off local college newspapers and the local free newspaper. But due to my fulltime college and work schedule we sort of let the site die off even though it was doing alright money wise. I had a lot of fun creating it while we had it up, it was just to much to handle ontop of everything else.
I'm pretty heavy into technology, design and film/video. I'm good with a camera (photo and video) and pretty much everything computer related. I've got ideas, but again, I don't know anyone in the industry to bounce things off of, so I figured I mine as well start looking.
All in all, I'm looking for a career change. I'm not a desk jockey or someone who can tolerate a typical 9-5 corporate gig, I've got to many ideas and I'm to much a self starter for that type of life.
With all that said, if anyone here would be interested in helping me find a way to get my foot in the door or know of a starting place I could go, it would be greatly appreciated.
We all gotta start somewhere right.

What specifically are your skills? Photoshop, video editing, etc? I would suggest maybe hitting up the AEE show in Vegas this January-- it's a good place to network.

Thanks everyone, I got exactly what I what I was expecting to get, a load of BS wanker comments, except from Holly. Thanks Holly I'll try to check that out next year, my skills are pretty much all the industry (design/film/video) standard software.
Asshat, since when did asking for advice and help mean begging? I'm not some broke douche bag hard up for a job. I'm just looking to get some info to make a career change.
