Okay. I'll put this thread back on track, since the mod has no interest in doing so.
Contrary to what some other posters have asserted, I don't think there's anything Oedipal (or Step-Oedipal) about Luke.
Luke seems to have spent his entire life desperately seeking Desmond's approval. And, after many, many years, he finally came to the understanding that he would never receive the cranky old bastard's blessing. So, late in life, he finally had the rebellion he should have had as a teenager, the cornerstone of which was his conversion to Judaism. But, on a subconscious level, he still seeks Rev. Des' approval. Thus the outing of the whores, the alliance with Shelley and the Holier than Thou attitude in general.
When Luke finally outgrows his delayed adolescence, he may turn out to be a decent guy. Or he might be a prick, but anything will be better than what we've got now.

I Don't Really Need a Woman
Not so much Freudian as a complete epiphany's declaration.
The man cannot sustain a long term healthy relationship with a woman. His Evangelical crusade against porn WOMEN just illustrates his psychosis.
He says it himself. "I don't really need a woman" "I have my mommy"
Why does a Healthy man need a woman? Sex and Companionship.
He obviously has a huge problem with sexualized women hence his work in this industry. In order to own his mother he has to eliminate his father. Poor Rev Desmond.
Using the word "mommy" shows that this psychosis has its beginnings in his childhood. Didn't his biological mother die at an early age? Correct me if I'm wrong. If she did, then he obviously harbors resentment towards his father for it; if not faulting him completely.

I don't think it's so much a problem with sexualized women as it is a problem with sex in general.
As you've pointed out, he grew up in a fundamentalist household. By definition, fundamentalists in all religions have a problem with sex, especially when it's other people having it. Luke sees his work in the industry as an attempt to fight pornography, and "un-sanctified" sex in general. And this redounds to his need for his father's approval.
His problems with his step mom preclude any sort of Oedipal complex. I'll grant you his need for a mommy figure, but that's due to his real mom's untimely death more than anything else.

Holly, yes. But in her defense, she was drinking at the time. Plus she's a really sweet and compassionate person who most likely looked at him like a lost puppy or something.
As for Gia? Where'd you hear that one? I'm reasonably, almost 99% certain that never happened. I'd be flabbergasted if it did. But stranger things have happened.

I've had two and only because my fist retired.
I know It's difficult to find a doctor you're comfortable with but having seen more than 4 over that period of time isn't a good thing. It is a good sign that you have sought help but I must say that your pattern makes me think you don't truly believe in the process. I understand it may be difficult for a theologically conflicted evangelist like you to embrace any type of therapy. Trust me, I can tell you from personal experience, when your father passes on you'll probably feel more comfortable with ALL things.

Information travels in ways that sometimes defy our notions of what is possible. It happened to me that the 7 year old child of a friend of a friend overheard a conversation at a party where somebody I didn't know was talking to somebody else I didn't know about something I had been doing in a country far away. What I had been doing there was supposed to be a secret, but the seven year old - who I had never met either - picked up that piece of very important information about me at a party where I was not present and then went to his father to tell him about it who then told my friend and my friend told me. I denied it, but the information was true. With all my imagination, to this day I have not been able to figure out how on earth that information could have traveled across half the world through people I did not know to end up in the hands of a seven year old in LA. I will never know. Eventually that highly embarrassing information even made it further until it reached... well, that's a secret.
I wouldn't have been that surprised if I had been a CIA operative or a celebrity, but I am as irrelevant as they come.
I'm telling this story to explain why I find it highly unlikely that somebody who is doing porn or who has been doing porn in a distant past will ever be able to bury that past. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I find it very unlikely.
Somebody somehow will always find out about it.
A secret is only safe if you're the only person who knows about it. If you did porn there are thousands and more who know your "secret". And it won't just go away the day you decide that you had enough of it.
I think the best way to deal with it is to make sure that your family (including children) and friends know about your past. That way, when the day of the reckoning hits, they are prepared and will stand by you. As far as employment, that's a different story. I guess that's a case by case situation, even though, porn rarely helps your career prospects.

Meanwhile, we can see that Luke's article has actually caused negative repercussions: Renee Smith has taken down the sites she was using to promote her real estate business.
You can still use google cache or waybackmachine, but obviously this is one way we now know the woman's' business has been negatively impacted. I don't want to make any guesses about the extent of the damage and wouldn't go as far as to allege that she might have gone out of business - agents usually get most clients via word of mouth and personal recommendations and not via websites - but it certainly doesn't look very good.

The Lori Michaels Situation Lets go further into Luke's motivations and doctrine. On May14th Luke Posted about Lori Michaels possibly being dead. It seemed to be an obvious attempt of Michaels to get away from the business. His answer was(I'll paraphrase) "I must not be a good journalist because I'm to lazy to research this". So I guess a former porn actress faking her death(nothing new there) is the only way to prevent Luke from taking you to task. Was he so detached about the whole thing because they shared a friendly relationship? Is Toni's being outed because she wasn't "nice" to Luke? Was Michaels just fortunate Luke was in some depressive state of his psychosis at the time and not "motivated" enough to research the issue? So current Stars Take note. If you ever want to move on with this phase of your life and not be outed then be nice to Luke or fake your death and pray Luke is off his meds.
