I know Cleetus has his DVD release thread, and usually it has some great titles. I'd like to supplement that with a few of the movies that don't quite make the big screens. Some of them are just hilarious...some are nauseating...make you own judgement:

First off is the instant exploitation classic Ebola Syndrome from Asian director Herman Lau. If you want a movie that is utterly crass and devoid of niceties...you've hit the target.

Summary: Kai is a substandard Hong Kong factory worker who one day axemurders his boss and wife in a bloody scene. On the lam, he flees to Africa. While working there in Chinese restaurant, he notices a local woman, who, he brutally rapes. Payback is a bitch for Kai, though, his victim is stricken with the deadly Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever. Luckily, Kai is merely a carrier of this ultra-infectious disease, and he soon learns to put it to good use. Raping and torturing his way back to Hong Kong, his "carrier" status allows him to inflict pain and ignominy on many of his Chinese victime, until the local police force finally tune to the situation and respond.

Next on my viewing list is the exploitation classic from the 1970s, Goodbye Uncle Tom (Addio Zio Tom) from legendary filmhounds Gualtieri Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi. "Uncle Tom" is the finale of their Mondo Cane series of exploitation films, and it is one sick movie. I knew this was a good title when Pauline Kael of the New Yorker referred to them as, "the most reprehensible filmmakers ever."

Summary: Zio Tom is a shockumentary on the brutalities of the slave trade in the early 1800s. There is no disgusting tidbit unexploited here: slaves are beaten, raped and murdered at the drop of a hat. The opening sequence features a man onboard a slave ship who is unwilling to eat. The solution? His "masters" chisel a hole in his incisors and force a feeding tube into his throat. Later in the film, we witness a lovely dinner party, complete with dressed white women feeding table scraps to young African boys under the table. Would SAG ever allow that kind of casting??? Yeah, I didn't think so either.

Great taste, Willie. ADDIO ZIO TOM is a fucking work of genius. It was shot with Papa Doc's benign approval in Haiti with a crew of about 10, with the producer and directors stepping in as actors. Given its sheer visual beauty AND horror, never mind its technical skill, I still can't imagine how they did it. There's a great behind-the-scenes documentary on the dvd that shouldn't be missed. This is a masterpiece that's been swept under the rug by p.c. fuckbags, mostly because it's entirely truthful. THE MONDO CANE COLLECTION boxed set is a must-buy, given that it includes another masterpiece, AFRICA ADDIO. In that shockumentary, director Gualtiero Jacopetti was disparaged for allegedly asking roving rebel hit squads to stop shooting for a moment while he reloaded or relocated his camera. True or not, he's also seen being dragged away by one and almost done away with himself. Brilliant!

Generally when shooting movies claimed to be based on true events, getting the approval of murderous dictators is not considered a good sign.

Exactly!
According to the directors, Papa Doc seemed clueless as to what was happening on-set, even though some scenes required thousands of naked extras. On the other hand, it was understandable that he would approve a project that intended to depict the realities of the slave trade. (Which it does.)
There's a brothel scene in that flick that is a thing of Fellini-like beauty. And a fantasy sequence in which a black-power dude with an afro massacres a white suburban family and destroys their home that is WAY the fuck ahead of its time. Shouldn't be missed.

I love this thread Willie
Crazy movies are always entertaining. Oddly enough the majority of them seem to be foreign

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096467/

Another Asian gem- English title: Centipede Horror

Another recent favorite of mine is Snakes on a Train from the Mallachi Brothers. Yes, it's a parody of Samuel L. Jackson's horrifically bad Snakes on a Plane, which was basically two hours of Jackson running around shouting, "We've got motherfuckin' snakes on this motherfuckin' plane!" If you recall, the buzz on the movie started as an idea on the internet, and grew to such great heights that some douchebag actually wrote it down. Fortunately for us, someone was already working on the parody. In fact, Train was actually released about a month before Plane.

The plot revolves around a Mexican shaman and his wife who are trying to illegally immigrate to the U.S. The wife has a small problem in that she starts vomiting up snakes. At first they are little garter snakes, but they get bigger and bigger, and are soon consuming little children and just about everything else in sight. Meanwhile, two blonde girls are trying to smuggle a sack of cocaine into the country, which provides a good excuse for lots of gratuitous nudity.

It's as bad a movie as the one it parodies, but then again, it's meant to be. The acting is over-the-top, the effects are bush-league, but it moves along at a brisk pace and you can get into it, if you have the right frame of mind.
