Looks like Nectar has announced they are stopping VHS production, I guess they want to focus on their 3 pieces of DVDs they move a month. I wonder how long til they stop putting out DVDs and put Marty Zion back on the welfare line where he belongs.

Nectar Entertainment Halts VHS Production

VAN NUYS, Calif. - Nectar Entertainment has decided to discontinue production of VHS tapes for the United States market, noting that the bulk of their sales are already in DVD.

“95 percent of our sales are already DVD, so we’ve decided to leave the VHS market altogether and just release DVDs,” Sean Logan, president of Nectar, told AVN.com.

Nectar will continue to distribute their new titles in VHS format in foreign markets, although they anticipate that one-day, their will no need for the VHS format anywhere.

“You can get a DVD player for $60 nowadays. If they don’t have a DVD player yet, they’ll be getting one soon,” Logan said.

Marty Zion’s Space 2007, scheduled for a June release, will be the first title only available as a DVD. Their catalog titles will continue to be available in VHS format until existing tapes are sold off.

I have never heard of Nectar, what do they put out? I like VHS when I rent movies because the other pricks who rent do not know how to treat DVDs and whenever I get them they are all scratched up. So now I only rent VHS and if the movie is good enough I then buy it on DVD.But I can see the way this is going with most of my local rental places slowly phasing out VHS, Shit.

That is a good point about the scratches, I remember when I first started watching porn on DVD what I loved then and still love now is the ease of fast forwarding and checking out all the scenes so you can find where the maximum stroke value is before jackin'.

Right Tony, thats what I love about DVD, that and the shelf life being much longer than VHS, so when I buy its DVD only. But I wish they would make these idiots take a class on DVD hadling before they rent- they are not fucking coasters you shitbirds. One of the best things about DVD is the extras that are included on the discs which porn companies are finally starting to catch up on.


Which reminds me- Jeff how about on one of your upcoming JM Production DVDs possibly Girlvrt with Ashley having her do a commentary track or with anyone associated with it, that would have to be some really funny shit listening to you guys talk about your warped movies. I know I would buy it.

The only VHS I buy is JAV stuff which is only available in PAL. I have heard however, that most japanese companies plan on phasing VHS out very soon. Some have already done so, in fact.

All my JAV is on VCD. I like it cause I can still play it on my DVD player.

There are still a handful of people that have yet to convert from VHS to DVD,so VHS will be around for quite a little while.

I dont even owen one dvd....my collection is all on vhs. Maybe I just have a hard time adapting to change but as long as they have vhs tapes at the movie store...I will keep renting them!

When I rarely rent, I rent video cuz you can tape 'em. But now there's dvd-recorders so that'll prolly change when I upgrade.

I agree...vhs is a easy way to increase your collection.....dvd recorders are too expensive right now and isn't there blocks on some of the dvds preventing copying?

I have been using dvd ripping software to copy every rental for the past year or so ,once I converted a few vhs tapes I ditched the format all together. If you are considering going from vhs to dvd recording make sure you do it via your computer otherwise if the dvd is encoded with copy prohibit your fucked. Plus if you use your computer you get all the menus and special features
