Once these schools start handing out honorary degrees to these whores and other adult directors, agents and so-called "Doctors," it's over. I can only believe that this was a sick, sociological experiment at Belladonna's expense contrived by the Professor. If it wasn't, colleges are in a sad state of affairs. What can she possibly offer beyond, "I'm an enormously successful porn star who takes cock up my asshole for cash on mini-DV tape. I then sell these DVDs for consumer's masturbatory purposes." Seriously, if she didn't learn how to gape her asshole as large as a watermelon, most men would never even look at her with the shaved head, gap-tooth and awful titty-tattoo. To begin with, there's no evidence, from either a general web search or a THOROUGH search of the UC-Irvine site, that Belladonna is receiving an honorary degree of any kind. And that sort of thing would be BIG news. Departments invite speakers all the time; it's entirely possible the psychology department invited to her to talk about why she's not bothered by taking it up the ass on camera... whereas most people would be.
Beyond that, however, there's no evidence I can find that she's speaking AT ALL. Which means, if she is, then this is not even a major event. In other words, not the kind of thing that would be held in an auditorium - that's the sort of event you advertise, if only because you sunk enough money into using the building that you want SOME kind of jusification for it. More like what I suggested above, a small, departmental talk. Maybe twenty, thirty people in a seminar room in the Social Sciences Building or whatever? Hardly a big deal.
Besides, though, I don't see why it would necessarily be the case that she wouldn't have anything to say. Careena Collins and Mike Lucas have a law degrees. Sharon Mitchell is a PhD. Several of these girls went to college. Even the ones that didn't might have reflected on their lives as porn stars enough to have something interesting to say. Hell, Jenna Jameson wrote a book (yes, it was co-written with that Strauss guy, but while Strauss may have been cleaning up the presentation, he sure didn't contribute the content... I've read some of his other stuff. You can tell) and Nina Hartley has a vivacious career as a public speaker.
Assuming they have nothing to say because they work in porn is to assume that there's something wrong with them because they work in porn. I wouldn't guess they're any more fucked up than anyone in the entertainment industry. Although, after having spent most of my life in Nashville, I am prepared to say that the entertainment industry people are plenty screwed up on the whole as it is.

While I would agree that most porn girls are likely to have little of interest to add, some are quite interesting. I usually find what Gia and, especially, Gen have to say very enjoyable and often fascinating.

IRVINE, Calif. - Performer and director Belladonna was a guest speaker at UC Irvine for a Sociology of Sexuality class lecture Thursday evening.
With a class attendance of 350, pornography clips were shown, followed by a Q & A session which included Belladonna and fellow performers Justin Long and Jon Jon. The clips illustrated different adult video genres, including lesbian, solo, boy/girl, interracial, transexual and gay porn. Among the clips chosen for girl/girl interaction was Evil Angel's first Belladonna-directed movie, Evil Pink.
The Q & A session focused on social aspects of sex and pornography. The students showed interest in the differences in sex on- and off-camera. Belladonna offered the insight that while she often enjoys the same type of sex off-camera as audience members see in her performances, it's on a less frequent basis because of her time commitments to both her work and her family, especially her daughter. She elaborated that sex with a partner off-camera is even more intimate than her on-camera performances, and that even though as a director, she does everything to encourage intimacy in performances, real-life sex is "just different."
This prompted the question of how Belladonna deals with being both a porn star/director and a mother, and whether she is nervous about how her adult-industry career will affect her daughter in the future. Belladonna answered, "I've had moments where I've wanted to walk away from the business because of my daughter. But I believe that it is best to just be strong and to teach her to be a strong and independent person as she grows up. I want to support her and be a good mother. I expect that there will be issues and am not in denial about that, but I believe that I can help her grow up to be emotionally strong and healthy."
Regarding an inquiry about STDs, Belladonna explained that she has always been very cautious about protecting her health. To prevent Staph infections, she uses an enviricide on all toys that are used, especially acrylic-type toys which may be used more than once. She also strongly supports the standard testing practices throughout the industry, and takes it upon herself as a performer to pay for her co-stars to be tested 2-3 days before the shoot.
"I was so excited and honored, and I want to do this again because it feels so good to talk to people about what I do and maybe even break the stereotype of a porn star," Belladonna enthused.
