"Are You Fuckin’ Kidding Me, AVN? XBix?
Come on guys, you misspelled XBiz in the title of your article (link) about Larry Flynt’s keynote speech at XBiz Hollywood.
Xbix? Yeah, that’s how they have it on the front fuckin’ page of AVN.com right now. Have a look at the full screenshot behind this link. Are we supposed to believe that this is unintentional? I mean, come on. The damned thing was posted around 6pm PST (my article will be printed at approximately 8am PST) and we’re supposed to buy the idea that no one over there has picked up on this, yet?
Well, this officially fucks up any credibility Dan Miller was supposed to bring when he replaced Mike “Someone Euthanize Me Before I Procreate†Ramone as Editor in Chief. It doesn’t really matter, I don’t suppose. As I understand it Miller has been the website editor for quite some time now.
Either way, AVN, Dan Miller, and whomever else it might concern; this makes you all look petty, childish, and just downright lame. How can you not see this?
This is the kind of thing that just makes me wanna leave the business sometimes. No shit. It’s this kind of lamer, half-assed garbage that makes everyone scoff at this industry. Does anyone else out there see this like I do? Am I the only one who gets sick and tired of immaturity and mindless egotism driving this business into a perpetual vortex of mediocrity? Do you not have any fucking self-respect?
I’m serious, people. I wanna burn down every single one of your offices right now on general goddamned principle. With the exception of a very small minority, no one in this business seems to give a rip about how idiotic we look to the rest of the world on a daily basis. The majority of the people in this business are comfortable in our paradigm of perpetual adolescence. Porn Valley is one big high school, and part of the problem with high school is that it's nearly impossible for the teenage mind to see past the boundaries of their high school’s walls. The same problem exists in the Valley. You folks always seem to forget that there’s a big ol’ world out there.
People are watching, and they’re laughing.
They’re laughing because unlike so many of us, they grew up. They realized that in order to be considered a professional, one has to act like a professional. They realize that quality takes precedent over ego. They realize that it’s easy to fuck up all of the credibility they’ve built with one, ill-advised move born of pride rather than logic.
I’m gonna go bash something now. Be back later. "
