Just wondering who is known in the Adult world to have Herpes? Seem's like Warts and Herpes never shut down a shoot. Why is that? Anyone willing to reveal who has Herpes?
I feel bad for the very young girls that are 18 doing a first shoot and then discovering H has hit them.

I'm actually kind of pissed that AIM doesn't check for this...it's like the French defence strategy before the Germans invaded, with Herpes being Belgium.  I'm actually planning to start shooting some material of my own and possibly setting up a little paysite, and if I ever shoot any hardcore stuff I will be insisting on FULL STD tests. How much effort does it take to test for Herpes and then separate the talent into various pools dependent on what type of Herpes they have or if they are Herpes free, and just pair them up with someone in the same pool? Evil Angel shot a scene wherein both performers, Tricia Deveraux and John Stagliano, were HIV+...that's no problem compared to shooting a scene where only one of the participants is HIV+. The same holds true if you shoot a scene wherein both/all performers have Herpes...no one is going to catch anything they don't already have. Simply put, performers without Herpes should only work with other performers without Herpes, and people with Herpes should only work with other performers who have the same type of Herpes they have. This way, the industry could show the authorities that they are taking their responsibilities seriously and taking pre-emptive action to minimise transmission of STDs.

Um, no. Some strains of HIV destroy the immune system at a faster rate and are more resistant to anti-HIV drugs. That's why even two HIV+ performers should still use condoms when working with each other. Likewise, there are different strains of herpes, some stronger than others against antiviral drugs.

My bad...you are correct regarding different strains of HIV/AIDS.
I still think my argument holds, though.
Back on topic, Chloe told Martin Amis she had herpes for some newspaper article he was writing.
If jamesn was here, I'm sure he could name at least one male performer who has herpes too...

I'm sure most of them have had several diseases and don't care if they get diseases nor care if they spread diseases.
I have no fear of injury nor death, so hostilities and shoot outs don't bother me.It's the same thing with porn stars. People don't become porn stars & prostitutes because they worry about disease. It's the opposite. They just don't care. Either that or they have been deluded into believing that they are safe, but it's just a false sense of security. It's more like probing through a mine field. If you believe there isn't a significant chance of detonating a mine the only security you have is a false belief. Your perception of reality would be an illusion.
Sex is just like a mine probe or a fire fight. The only thing keeping you safe is fate and luck.
I wouldn't trust any of them to be clean. So why even bring this up? It's like asking if a jelly donuts have jelly. Usually they do.

There's a time frame between tests, so they can contract and spread anything between that period. As slutty as they are who knows where they have been and who they have been with between the period of their last test and their next test.
What if the chesmist fucks up during analysis? For whatever reason. What if they misdiagnose? It happens more often than people think. That's a woops that no malpractice suit will ever fix.
Also, not all studios require tests. It's an at your own risk setup for most. Especially amature productions.

Bullshit. Fear of disease is what makes a number of female pornstars stick to G/G scenes or work only with their boyfriends. I've worked in various capacities in the sex industry - as a stripper and then as an escort- and I ALWAYS used condoms. I have never contracted a single STD in my life. As an escort I had every incentive to do so - why would I have wanted to diminish my market value with Kaposi's sarcoma or lipodystrophy and spend all of my hard-earned money on antiviral medication?
Of course, it's much more fun to pontificate than think, so you go right ahead and do just that.

Before my lifetime ban from ADT, I posted a herpes question since AIM only "recommends" tests every 6 month for the disease and never requires it. I did it at ADT since it seems more of an ADT type question. ADT Thread The attitude at ADT was that herpes was endemic to porn and thus infection was not only an accepted risk, but an inevitable one. This attitude "generated" rants from "The Generizer". Go get 'em GEN!!! KILL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't make replies to nonsense on this bored in regards to topics like this because it's a waste of god damn time. No one listens anyways, even if I was a mother fuckin' doctor no one would listen. Ignorance is bliss mother fuckers. If my opinions and known facts from the bit of education that I have matters, then read what I wrote on ADT. And no, I've been fortunate enough to have no contracted the herp, no hepatitis and because I didn't perform on a everyday, or every other day basis, I did do my best to test as often as possible. You don't have to go by AIMs recommendation of every 28days, if you care that much about yourself you can test as often as you like. You shouldn't have to be told what to do to make sure you're taking care of yourself.
I'd rather fuck everyone in the industry than fuck every civilian out in L.A. who chances are have only been tested never or once in their life.

I don't know how they did their testing but i'm pretty sure I know when there's a spot on my lip that is contagious regardless of there being a sore there or not so I don;'t think you should be so worried about this method of tranmission - besides apparently its estimated that 90% of the US population have herpes anyway

According to Dr. Drew(loveline) the herpes blood test is extremely unreliable, and often times generates false positives, he also says that the only accuarate way to test for it, is during an outbreak...which by then it should be pretty obvious. I personally agree with whoever said that if you get into porn, its just a risk you take. I also dont see what the big freakin deal is! You have an outbreak once every couple years or so, you take your valtrex or whatever and you live a normal life. I think AIM is right to focus on HIV, which can kill you, chlmydia and gonnera which can make you sterile. Herpees is the least of the adult industry concearn, as it should be in my humble opinion. The bottom line is SEX IN THE ADULT INDUSTRY IS A MILLION TIMES SAFER THAN SEX IN THE REAL WORLD!!

I don't know about the other STDs but I don't think herpes simplex type 1 and 2 would be much different. I'm pretty sure I know when I would be in a contagious state. Otherwise probably everyone would be affected unless people with the virus weren't allowed to touch anyone else. Even when no sore is present I have other symptoms like tingling and itchiness in a certain area around my mouth and probably a fever as I always feel like crap at the time
So I think it would be rare if anyone with the virus passed it on unknowingly. Also I don't think anyone would particularly feel like having sex anyway while having a herpes "episode"

Why not? It's no different from saying 'HIV- performers should only work with other HIV- performers'.
It's better to try than do nothing at all, and like I say, why not show CAL/OSSHA that the industry is proactive in its efforts to stop STD transmission?
