We got involved for oil. Kuwait, which was conquered, Bahrain, Qatar and the Saudis had more to fear from Saddam than Israel. And by 1992 the area was completely secure. It was secure when W invaded.

W invading Iraq in 2003 gave Israel no help. Saddam wasn't killing any Jews. He killed Muslims and Muslims ONLY. I don't think it helped any of the neighboring Arab states either. And, now the Muslims are killing more of each other a day than Saddam ever did.

Certainly the pressure that was on Israel to make a deal with the Palestinians turned off when Hamas was elected. But, most of that is Europe's distaste for Hamas. Once Europe took a step back, once Arabs rioted in France, once Muslims worldwide rioted over cartoons, and once the right of many of the EU countries started played the Arab/Muslim non-conformist card at home, Israel has had it easy.

The only country we seem to have helped greatly is Iran.
