For example, after evaluating an indefinite integral, the final answer always carries a +c term(called the constant of integration, since an indefinite integral, not having upper and lower limits, will never give a precise answer). Try writing something else instead of that +c, and most professors will look at you funny.

Fact of the matter - just like how in programming there are reserved words, so too in mathematics there are certain variables like x, theta, sigma, epsilon etc. which have their specific uses and cannot AND should not be used interchangeably.
