I am going to be at the Mandalay Bay in early January at the same time the AVN awards will be in town. I have always been very interested in doing adult video but living in the midwest I have never had an opportunity (not the center of the porn industry obviously). Does anyone know if there is a way to get on an invitation list or two for the various parties that go on during the AVN to get some exposure to the industry? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Slightly off the "becoming a pornstar" topic, but what's the deal with all the floor tables already being sold out for the AVN's? It looks like it's going to be mostly arena-style raised seating to the side of the floor. Lame.

First of all, the Mandalay Bay Events Center is SOOOOOO fuckin' far away, it might as well be in Jean, Nevada. To answer your question, the tables get eaten up by insiders because the conventional wisdom is you can't be a player if you're not at your own table.
More importantly, the table revenue of approximately $250K more than pays for the facilities charge, so any seats taken up in the stands is gravy for the profit producing event. It's good work when you can get it...

If you are interested in doing porn then get yourself an agent.
But if you like to wait till LV; buy yourself a ticket for $45-$50 at the EXPO - Sands and visit the hundreds of booths. When I was there the year before; there were all sorts of producers in their booths and walking around. Ed Powers was rooming around and John Leslie, John Silvia and Ron Jeremy, etc... a lot of recognizible faces in Porn. In other words; they are accessible. I don't know about the top producers like Vivid but Hustler's Larry Fynt was there and could of been approached.
So, don't be shy; marketing is everything! What do you have to loose? All you need is one producer to start your career! Think of yourself as a model going on an audition!

Don't listen to the naysaying losers on this board; go to AEE (the trade show leading up the AVN Awards), walk around and introduce yourself to the production companies and the rest should be history. Better yet, send your photos and contact info to the top agencies here in Porn Valley (ladirectmodels.com, goldstarmodeling.com, spieglergirls.com)and you should be picked up in no time; then, in a few months, your first releases will cum out, giving the aforementioned losers something to do with their empty, pathetic lives.

Start out with softcore stuff, like trying to get into magazines, like Penthouse, Beaver Hunt, etc and / or be a webcam girl on Steamray, Imlive.com, Cams.com, etc. Get your feet wet and see if you like the sex industry. Since you are going to AVN, you can talk to some performers about how to get into the biz. If you are going to do porn, the jobs that you can have after you exit the biz are limited, so think about your decision carefully.

This is off topic, I know... but since it seems redundant to start another "2007 AVNs" thread:
Is there any buzz at all about prospective AVN noms? I'm hearing nothing. It seems like this time last year there were dozens of names ( Audrey, Hillary, Katsumi,&c ) and titles ( Pirates, The New DMJ, Darkside, Catherine,&c ) being pegged for sure winners. Any word on 2007's odds-on favorites?

Yes, it has been a 'quiet' year. This year has been more about re-organizing in order to survive, rather than hype. The 2007 Expo is going to be subdued to say the least and Internext 2007 will be a ghost town (there are too many other webmaster conventions that are better, cheaper to attend, and more fun).

XBIZ is had a webmaster forum last summer in Vegas at the Hard Rock that I heard was awesome. There should be another this summer. The rooms were $149 a night and just across the street, next door, and around the corner there were very inexpensive hotels.
