ahhh... partially true, partially not.
Yes, i was born in the states.
However, I do hold dual citizenship. I am still right now in the process of acquiring the needed paeices of paperwork from Italy to get it recognized and reinstated. I have everything but my grandmothers Birth cert and I have a company tracking it down, but there are some issues in the city she was born in where they had piss poor record keeping.
Probably within the year i will hold an Italian passport.

i was going to move to Italy at one point but the political climate there isn't much better than here.
I am proud of my heritage as was my grandfather which was why he never renounced his Italian citizenship. (OK, that and he was denied US citizenship for being a bootlegger.)
But, I like having options... I like knowing that with that other passport I can travel and stay longer in other parts of the world where US citizenship doesn't get you much in terms of a visa... i.e. Japan, Australia, and most EU countries.

I have a real problem with that mustache the Italian women get. I can overlook the overgrown goody trail because that winds up waxed or naired but I havent seen many Italian women who age without that nasty mustache and wide fat ass.

eh, Ive seen it, but my family are mostly Northern Italians and are blonde for the most part... if they have it, you couldnt see it.

Just be careful, Rob. The US admits it doesn't work quite as hard to resolve problems for persons of dual citizenship carrying dual passports.
And, games can be played, if some evil person wanted to, with "applying for" and "automatically granted" with searching out such citizenships.
A person who is "automatically granted" another citizenship does not risk losing U.S. citizenship. However, a person who acquires a foreign citizenship by "applying for it" by free choice may lose U.S. citizenship, especially if viewed with the intention to give up U.S. citizenship.
The "political climate" comment in the wrong hands could come back to haunt you. Imagine an "administration" interested in giving a person of your "livlihood" a hard time ...
true, but i still say the US is the best option.
Technically i was automatically granted the citizenship, i just have to prove my lineage for "Jus Sanguis". Actually the US government has been rather helpful with helping me secure documents such as the Denial of Citizenship judgment my grandfather got.

Rob, have you tried the village/town/city church records? Many births were never recorded at city hall. The local priest always kept meticulous records that are easily found, except in relatively rare cases of documents lost in the war.
Italian women also were not allowed by law to pass on citizenship until the formation of the unified nation in 1948, so technically a grandfather's birth certificate should always work.
It's really just easier to be Irish. They print those passports like the Sicilians print wine labels for their vinegar bottles.

Yah, for some reason the consulate in Miami are sticklers about having EVERYONE down the line, they want a full geneology... I hear the LA consulate follows the "only need down the direct line of decent" rule.
I'm aware of how it works with the records there, and the worst part is, her uncle was the main priest there, but apparently there were some issues as the old province became absorbed into a new province, and yeah, some war time losses.
