Today I ate at The Abbey. Greek salad, extra olives, no cheese, dressing on the side. Small fresh squeezed orange juice.

Today I had lunch at work with my UPMs Molly and Rick (though he's now more popularly known as Pretty Ricky). I normally don't like eating lunch at work but sometimes I can't be arsed to go out.
On the menu we had lemon sole with semi dried grape almonds and apple jelly for starters and roast spring chicken, fig carpaccio cavolo nero and lentils as the main. Crazy combo but I rather enjoyed that.

Kimberly Kane and I went to the new raw cafe near Vivid called Sun Power. The food was good but they went too heavy on the sauces. The Pizza Supreme had a wonderful crust that was like focaccia bread and the marinara sauce topped with sun dried tomatoes gave way for a hearty texture. Before that, we had their taco wrap appetizers which were like southwest spring rolls.

I have a new assistant in the office. Just found out today. It's nice- now I have the option of having someone else decide what I should have for lunch. As a test run I asked her to get me lunch then pretended I was too busy to even suggest the type of meal. A few minutes later she returned with a bento box special of chicken teriyaki and california roll. "Molly said you like sushi" she said. It's a start.
Second (but more off topic) does anyone use the applications for blackberry on app world? This may sound really retarded but I spent all morning playing with that. Downloaded and archived a bunch of these programs. Not really sure why I need them (I hate using the phone in the first place), but now I have the option of updating my facebook status whilst sitting in traffic.

Some folks like to add finely shredded purple onion. I buy feta packaged in its brine. That type of feta is unprocessed and I believe has few additives.

Today I got a pleasant visit from Dennis. Dennis is one of my best friends, he's in his late 50s, long since retired and spends most of his time traveling. "Done any traveling lately?" is what he'd always say. Dennis also has a wife in her mid 30s; an Albanian with steel gray eyes. Have you ever seen a woman with gray eyes?
He sat at the kitchen table and watched me prepare a salad of heritage beetroots with fresh sheeps ricotta, quince and pine nuts. I used a recipe I found in an old cookbook I bought strictly because it had this nostalgic image on the cover that reminded me of my home economics (cooking) classes in high school. The beetroots however are called borscht and one is advised to use fresh, not picked beets, pine not hazelnuts and has you drain a tablespoon of capers in brine.
After much chop chop I wasn't even sure I was going to get the desired result but I was really surprised. A demanding luncheon experience but a rewarding one too. My home economics teacher Mrs. Guest would be proud.

Leftover Beef Guiness stew. Made from scratch.
Used a little too much crushed tomatoes when making it, but dear god it still tasted beautiful. Such a wonderful tangy, earthy flavor....

A few weeks ago we received an e-mail at the office that simply read "Do you guys like coffee?" to which one of our interns replied "Yes". We didn't really think much about it after that until this morning-
We received 3 boxes full of bags of coffee beans. I personally don't drink coffee so this entire package would have gone ignored except I couldn't ignore all the mouth smacking after Josie brewed a pot. Everyone was going mmmmmmm and ahhhhhhhh and smacking their lips. "OH my God this is good coffee" they said.
So I decided to get a cup, curious to see what good coffee tastes like. It still had that oily aftertaste but with an even fuller flavor. I had about 6 cups of this stuff before I realized I was definitely "buzzing". The coffee is an Ethiopian brand known as Yirgacheffe. I'm not sure if everyone that drinks coffee gets to feel as high as I did, but if that's what you guys experience then I've been missing out. I have now been invited.

Funny, loop. That's the very reason I stopped about four months ago. I was a big coffee drinker but got it down to about a cup a day for a year or so, then just stopped altogether. That wired feeling was too much for me. I'm neurotic enough as it is.
I still have the occasional cup of decaf and, as a result, have been handed a non-decaf cup once or twice. Had me up 'til nearly noon. 6 cups would keep me up for days.
So, how are ya feelin' about now?

I'm feeling much better especially since I've just had a nice filling supper. That coffee buzz came quick and unexpected. Most of the people that drink coffee regularly seemed to handle things fine and went to lunch happy but I was too hyper to eat anything.

The Japanese are rather obsessive about the time. The word for clock and time is the same in Japanese. I wouldn't have noticed anything had she not left this obsessively precise notice on my pillow.
Also one question: What kind of massage is available from 7pm to 2am only? 4,200 yen for 40 minutes.
